I run a satellite office so no one’s looking over my shoulder. But I’m salaried and no one at my level works only 40 hours/week. More like 50 hours/week on average and more during crunch weeks. I would really like to figure out how to leave at 5 or even 5:30, without having to fire up the laptop after dinner. Usually work ~34 hours per week, but shifts might be:</p> <p>7am-5pm<br /> 9am-7pm<br /> Noon-10pm<br /> 5pm-3am<br /> 10pm-8am</p> <p>I work some of each of these times in a given month. On the days I work, I’m there 8a-7p with no real lunch break. I’ll eat bites of food between patients. The only issue is that so many other people work closer to 9a-5p and schedule late meetings. But I travel and we host sporting events throughout the academic year. </p> <p>During the busier times, I may work all week then go 8:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m. on a Friday. Its not unusual to put in eight hours on a Saturday in the fall and to work Sundays in the spring. </p> <p>When I travel, I can be gone for a little over 24 hours or up to a week.
