Growing up, we did egg hunts, Easter baskets, and church. We also dyed eggs. I expect to do the same with my family!

Either the day or weekend before, we dye eggs, and the day before, we bake a sweet treat to bring to our family parties. The Easter Bunny leaves baskets in the living room and also hides eggs around the first floor of the house. We spend the entire day with family - DH's in the morning and my (huge) extended family in the afternoon and evening.

We are not religious, so this holiday is purely about fun and family for us. My mom passed away on Easter and it was a difficult holiday for me until I had LO. Now that I have kids, I try to make it as cheerful as possible, because I know she would have loved that.

Saturday we spend the day at my IL's. We have an easter egg hunt in their backyard and then dinner with everyone. There's usually about 12-15 people there. Sunday the kids hunt for their baskets and then we go to brunch at my parents' country club with my family.

Baskets are hidden by the Easter Bunny. Then church with the family. Then the whole extended family goes to my parents house for the rest of the day. We have a corn-hole tournament and a bocce ball tournament. Complete with trophies.

Growing up, the focus was religious. We went to different services and vigils at the church. We might have gotten one chocolate bunny, but that was pretty much it.

Now, it doesn't involve religion at all, at least for me. It's purely a gift giving occasion and I am very conflicted about that.

I'm Orthodox, so for my family our Easter traditions start on the Wednesday before Easter, we bake our traditional sweet bread and biscuits. On Thursday we dye our red eggs, on Friday night we go to church and walk around the block with lit candles and the adorned epitaphio (icon). On Saturday night is church again for midnight mass, and then we will have a midnight feast at my mum's house with soup. Sunday we have a family get together for a big buffet dinner and the kids have an easter egg hunt. On Easter Monday we recover by having a light lunch at my in laws and the kids play and cause a ruckus!

My kiddo is still a bit young for Easter traditions (19 months), but next year I want to set up a small Easter egg hunt in the living room and hide her basket. My dad always hid our baskets when I was a kid and it was so much fun to search for it! He hid them in progressively harder spots as we got older and we always helped each other if it was a particularly well hidden basket.

We don't have any. Last year we took 1 year old DD to Vegas for Easter. This year we are visiting extended family. No Easter basket this year and last. I think we are doing her first Easter egg hunt with family.

My mom loves doing egg hunts, we only stopped doing them three years ago when I had my first baby, and I was 34 at the time. She hides more than 100 chocolate eggs and jelly bunnies in a ridiculous mix of obvious (there are three "hiding" on the windowsill) and incredibly not obvious (buried in potted plants, in knot-holes of wooden furniture) places and then forgets where they all were. We never successfully found as many as she hid and so we were never 100% sure if we were finding this year's candy or something we missed a previous year.

I like to dye eggs and we put our baskets on the table for breakfast. Egg hunt is at church for us (although this year my MIL wants to do an additional egg hunt at her house after dinner since we are not going to church with her).

We just put the baskets out on the table. We color eggs, and we usually do an egg hunt. That's about it.

My family just did the baskets out on the table, too. But I can think of a few fun traditions:

One of my best friends, his mom would do a trail of jelly beans from the kids doors to their baskets, as they got older it was a longer trail.

My step mother's family would hide the baskets and tie a piece of string to them. The string would wind through the entire house/backyard. Out the windows back in doors, all over the place. The length of the string was based on age and even if you found the basket you couldn't have it until you followed the whole string. They all started from the living room. We spent one Easter with her family and it was crazy!

We've always just had the Easter baskets sitting out on the table for the kids when they wake up but this year I'm thinking about hiding the entire basket and making them look for it! I also plan on putting their Easter outfits IN the basket, otherwise my strong willed DD would be unwilling to wear what I bought.
