@mrs. wagon: I've been on the hunt for some comfy/cute/durable flats. Going to check out your recommendation!

For tanks, as in comfy tanks, I like Long and Lean from Target or Tankini from Old Navy. Neither are high end, but they're comfy and on sale frequently so replacing when you want is easy. They do last awhile however. I'm on year 2 of my long and lean tanks and they still hold their shape and quality.

For panties, I like Gilligan O' Malley line from Target. Specifically, the spandex and some other material. It feels silky and zero panty lines! They're super comfy and you don't even feel like you're wearing them. For comfy cotton panties, I like VS. They're a lil pricey but they have their semi-annual sale or when they're 7 for $25.

For dresses, I like the Banana Republic Outlet. Reasonably priced and cute to boot!

Gap has True Straight pants that I love. Just the right amount of stretch.

Eddie Bauer also has some great thicker leggings (side zipper) that I love way more than my ON pixie pants. Only problem is the EB don't have pockets.

I actually got 2 shift dresses from Target and I love them (Merona brand I believe). Online only but they are great and cheap so I have a few.

I'm a huge J. Crew fan. I am obsessed with my cashmere boyfriend cardigan. I've had it more than a year and wear it constantly. I've hand washed it just twice and it has held up beautifully. I also just bought the Pixi pants and love them! What didn't you like about them?

I also just bought some Hanky Panky stretch lace panties from Garnet Hill. The fit is amazing, they are super comfortable and I don't have VPL. They were more than what I normally pay for undies but the reviews sold me, and so far I am a believer!

I really like the camis from Banana Republic. Most of mine are from a few years ago, but I think they're called the New Essential? I prefer the tank top version but the cami is good too.

For shift dresses, I love J.Crew and occasionally J.Crew factory. Banana can be hit or miss but worth checking out too.

For Camis and sheets, my favorite are actually from Costco's Kirkland brand! I like cardigans from J. Crew and BR. I'm not a huge fan of gap for myself - I think it looks sloppy for some reason.

I really like my Costco Kirkland signature sheets. I've had mine for a few years and they have not pilled, but they do wrinkle (but not more than any other sheets I've ever owned).

For underwear, I agree that getting fitted and buying the right size is the best thing you can do. I would recommend going to a specialty shop or Nordstrom.

I keep going back to maidenform bras, I go to a store and try on a bunch of styles and fits to see which ones are the best. Then I buy those in nude and black.

As for everything else, it comes down to material and care. For example, I don't buy cotton cardigans any more, they never launder well and I am not dry cleaning those. So I buy merino instead and make sure it's the 2 ply kind. It does limit me in terms of choice, but I would rather have one nice looking cardigan than 10 in off colors and in cotton.

For bras, find a local specialty lingerie store and get fitted. They'll be able to find you the best fitting, high quality bras and they should carry a range of brands. You can also check out r/abrathatfits on reddit for suggestions.

My favorite undies are the VS boyshorts with the lace band from Victorias Secret. They'd like $10/pair, but worth it.

@Keybee: @jessibear: I've been eyeing J Crew cardigans, I'll give them a try. I'm tired of super thin ones that don't lay properly. And yesss about the Born shoes. I have one pair that is very comfy and still in great shape after 5 years. I don't need new shoes at this point but I'm definitely a fan of that brand.

Ooh, this is a great thread.

I recently bought a pair of Taryn Rose ballet flats and they are to die for. SO pricey but I found a pair at DSW for $95.

I need to buy new underwear and have been thinking about this exactly... I want to invest in really comfortable, quality underwear. The price per wear is obviously worth it. Right now my favorite pair are Body by Victoria.

I've gone this way in terms of bras and I can't remember the exact company, but I got fitted at Intimacy and I will never go back to ill-fitting, cheap bras ever again!!

Another for JCrew Cardigans. I have a ton of different colors.

I'm also a huge fan of Martha Stewart sheets from Macy's. They're cooling to the touch, but don't wrinkle and are very comfy.

I really like J Crew Cardigans. I have bought a few and they have lasted 4 and 5 years.
You didn't mention needing more shoes, but I buy a lot of Born shoes and they last forever.

Okay shopping bees, I'm ready for some spring cleaning - I want to toss my old, mostly cheap stretchy clothes and scratchy sheets and start investing in more high quality "stuff." I'm hoping you can share your favorite products with me. For example, I just ordered these "Softspots" ballet flats from Zappos that I'm in love with - I've never had a shoe fit so well right out of the box! And I'm in love with my Tempurpedic matttess - best money my husband and I ever spent, totally worth it.

I'm looking for...
-soft sheets that don't wrinkle easily
-panties and bras that don't ride up or create bumps under clothes (I'm totally open to long line bras and "granny panties" if they make the most flattering silhouette)
-camis/tank tops
-ponte pants that have a decent amount of stretch (was not a fan of the J Crew pixie pant when I tried it on last weekend, unfortunately)
-jumpsuits (I'm crazy about my black one from H&M and this new navy and white one I got from Lilly for Target)
-shift dresses
-cardigans

What are your closet and bedroom staples?

ETA: I'm a fan of classic, simple, somewhat preppy pieces and tend to like J. Crew, Gap, Ann Taylor etc. I have two Lilly dresses which fit in college but two kids later are not looking super flattering ;)
