We are the same way, with LO on a strict schedule. If things go well, I will usually start to notice her slowing down, gazing into the distance, getting quieter, etc. If I see her rubbing her eyes or sucking her thumb, then she's in danger of becoming "overtired" so I try and quickly get her into her crib.

rubbing eyes and general crankiness, clingy too.

I generally don't let him get to that point. I also make sure I start nap routine about 10 minutes before it's been 2 hours of being awake. Then he always goes down with no tears :)

We try to keep M on a pretty tight sleep schedule so we know when she will be getting tired. If we're not paying attention, though, she will start rubbing her eyes and sucking her thumb. I always feel bad when it gets to that point and we haven't started bedtime yet!

How do your lo's show you they are tired?
