@Truth Bombs: Thank you, it is good to hear a success story! I figured it was the tahini and the dr concurs so we'll just assume she's allergic to sesame for now and hold off on allergy testing until she's a bit older. I know I can deal with her having food allergies, my little brother has terrible ones, I find the hardest is the uncertainty and trying to figure stuff out when I'm still nursing so I find it hard to figure out what it could be. Thankfully this time it was quite clear!
@dahlia: ugh I was right there with you! I am back on everything but dairy and actually now that we know about the sesame thing I am hopeful that she might tolerate me having it at least and hopefully her as well. That is great that you've been able to add most everything back in already, I think that is a great sign that your LO will outgrow it all. I know what you mean about being scared to try new things, and I find it's SO hard when you're looking for a reaction to not assume anything could be one (poor night sleep, my LO gets red cheeks, etc.).

Dd1 - she wants to do EVERYTHING HERSELF and sometimes it takes soo long/she stalls or acts defiant...the process of going anywhere (getting dressed, getting in the car seat, etc.) is such.a.battle.

Dd2 - trying to get a quicker apt with the ENT to get her lip and tongue ties taken care of. It's really interfering with her ability to take solids

DS is almost 2. I am a worrier by nature but a few things seem to be rising to the top these days. Transitioning him to a new preschool/daycare in June, figuring out how to get rid of the pacifier, and because I have a lot of guilt about WOH I am terrible at setting boundaries and saying no - I really don't want to raise a spoiled kid who doesn't listen or won't accept a no.

@yoursilverlining: Does the school offer an aftercare program? Our district does until 6:00 and also with care for early dismissal days. It's relatively inexpensive (cheaper than our daycare) and LO has a great time.

@petitenoisette: Same here. I had to eliminate milk, soy, eggs, wheat, corn, peas, peanuts, and nuts while BF. She's still nursing at 9 months but in the last month I have been able to add most of those foods back into my diet. She eats lots of fruits and vegetables, plus quinoa and oatmeal, but I'm afraid to try a lot of other things. We don't have a family history of food allergies, so I'm hoping they're just intolerances and she has or will grow out of them. But it's so scary!

DD (age 4)--working on managing big feelings, mostly mad ones, getting through recent nighttime potty regression, planning ahead for kinder next summer

DS (9 months)-no big worries! Easy baby, but little worries about learning to crawl and getting used a cup so he will be ready to drop bottles at a year.

So thankful for their health after some kid health scares in our circle recently!

With B, I worry about him watching too much tv because it's still too cold to spend too much time outside, especially with the new baby. I also worry about making sure he's still getting enough attention.

With W, I'm worried that he'll never sleep in a bassinet and I'm going to spend the next 6 months sleeping in a recliner with him on my chest.

Just making sure LO grows up to be sweet and kind. He's 20 months and has been a little aggressively lately, which I know is normal and he says "uh oh" immediately after so he knows it isn't nice... I just want him to be a nice kid at school, but a bully.

In the immediate--my daughter will go for her 15 month checkup and get more vaccinations. She's learned our doctor gives her shots and cries at the sight of him. It's stressful.

Down the road--lining up childcare for her when baby #2 arrives and figuring out what to do when she leaves daycare. She loves her little daycare family and I want her to continue learning things and getting regular socialization.

@petitenoisette: Just want to give you a little hope that hummus is actually a common allergy because it has tahini which is made from sesame seeds which are a very common allergy. It stinks, but its probably not a sign that she'll have lots of allergies! My LOs have both had tons of intolerances as babies requiring me to eliminate dairy, soy, wheat, eggs, fish and nuts while nursing. My 3 year old outgrew them all and had allergy testing when she was 18 months that showed just a very mild pecan allergy. I'm hoping my 5 month old follows suit!

Eating and allergies. LO was (is) MSPI and now last night had an allergic reaction to hummus. She has been super slow to start solids, still really doesn't eat much and it's been really hard to figure out what she can and cannot eat. Heading to the Dr. in a few and hoping we can get referred to an allergist now that she is past one because I feel like we need help. :bummed:

@yoursilverlining: I totally think you could hire a trustworthy teenage girl to do aftercare for your DD once she's in kindergarten!

@Foodnerd81: ugh, yes. The tantrums and defiant behavior. That is our #1 biggest issue with DD. Potty training her was a breeze in comparison!

For DS, I'm just slightly nervous about the kindergarten transition this fall. It will be such a massive change going from his daycare class of 12 to an incoming kindergarten class of about 120. He will also be switching languages, which I'm not that worried about, but it will still be a major change.

His weight...always his weight!
Other than that feeling relieved we've decided to put off TTC #2 until early next year because things are actually so so good right now with my son (just turned 2). I think we're in a golden age at the moment and I'm glad not to have the stress of TTC and potentially morning sickness and all the rest of it, so that I can just enjoy him.

My 7 month old is crawling, climbing all over everything, pulling up, and working towards cruising. She's still working on balance, and she has zero fear, so I worry that she's going to hurt herself. She tries to launch herself off of the couch and our laps on a daily basis. And winds up in tears several times a day.

@junebugsmama: yeah she went twice, first one was just to get her used to the chair and they looked at her teeth and counted them. Second time they actually "cleaned" her teeth- scraped that little bit of build up off and brushed. She actually did great. The Usborne books "Going to the Dentist" book was really helpful. We went at just about 2.5 years.

Things like how DD will adjust to the transition, the short half-days and figuring out before/after school care, the dual drop-offs for the first time, etc... it's going to take some adjusting for all of us!

DD1 - her adjustment to being a big sister. She's very sad, very angry, behaving appallingly (hitting, kicking, spitting, deliberately pissing on the floor, eating play doh for a reaction), keeps stamping to wake the baby then crying because the baby's cries "hurt her ears", and keeps saying she doesn't like her baby sister. We are trying so hard to give her loads of time with us, letting her feel her emotions, accepting her.... but its really tough for everyone.

Dd2 (6 days old) - breastfeeding. Its just not working. She's narcoleptic at the breast, frustrated at latch on (freaks out, thirty attempts to latch, finally does it, three sucks, back to sleep), keeps popping off, my nipples are mangled, she screams all night (and wakes big sister)..... we have been supplementing because she is so jaundiced and now I'm getting mastitis in one breast (struggling to pump enough with a baby who won't be put down and a needy toddler).

Worried because I just took my son to the dentist for the first time and the buildup I had noticed on his front teeth is early decay :(. Now I feel guilty.. the dentist said its not cause by breastfeeding, but probably genetics and carby snacks. I used to be kinda lazy about cleaning his teeth once he started fighting it, until I noticed the yellow orange buildup. Any ways guilt all around.
