@mrsbird: I'm sorry that you're disappointed, but at least you aren't in limbo anymore. And you didn't sounds dumb at ALL. I'm pretty sure tons of women (including myself) hoping for a BFP have done the exact same thing.

Wishing you the best of luck whenever you and your DH decide it's time to TTC. :goodluck:

My period came today so I am not pregnant. I am somewhat relieved, even though I was hoping I was pregnant. A baby coming just nine months after I get married wouldn't be that ideal, even though I want to get pregnant sometime in the next year. I think my husband and I will start TTC within a few months, but getting pregnant this early would probably have been a bit of a wrong time. I'm disappointed though still, but all I can say is thank you lovely gals for putting up with my ridiculous posts. :) I'm not as dumb as I sounded, I was just overly hopeful and probably PMSing. :P I think I'll stick around on this site, since we will be TTC soonish anyway, and this seems like a really wonderful forum to hang around. :)

I think it's only a very, very slim chance that you are pregnant. Maybe less than slim. But, I am not saying it is impossible. My mom never got positive pregnancy HPTs with my older brother, and had to go in for blood work. But that was almost 30 years ago, and HPTs have come a long way......

I think the most likely culprit for your late period is stress. I wouldn't take that thread too seriously.

I agree with what others have said. The only way to confirm is to get a blood test. I also think most ppl have some pretty clear pregnancy symptoms by 2 weeks after their period is due.

I'm skeptical. I think the likelier explanation(s) for these types of situations are long cycles (often without knowing you tend toward a longer cycle) or stress delaying things. When I first started TTC, I had long cycles but didn't know it because I had been on BCP for so long. Coupled with lots of positive OPKs (my body would gear up but then not actually ovulate until later in my cycle), I would be 2+ weeks past what FF said was my "ovulation" date with negative HPTs. When I figured this out and actually tracked things appropriately, given my long cycles and multiple "waves" of positive OPKs, I got pregnant the next cycle trying. And I got a very dark, positive HPT 13 or 14 dpo.

There is always going to be someone out there who has experienced whatever it is you’re searching for on the internet. The chances of being pregnant and it not showing up on multiple home pregnancy tests taken at the appropriate time (i.e., not all taken before a pregnancy could be detected) are so, so slim. OB offices for the most part don’t confirm pregnancies anymore because the tests available over the counter are that good.

That said, I’d be freaking out if my period were so late, so why not make a doctor’s appointment for peace of mind and have them run a blood test there? Then they can also check for other reasons you may not be getting your period.

I'm sorry, I agree with PP. I know you want it, and I think to give you peace of mind the only way to know for sure is ask for some blood work, but go into it knowing the chances are pretty slim. I skipped an entire month around my wedding, AF just didn't come (also caused some freakout) but I knew it was just stress, she arrived the next month with no issues.

No similar experience, but I just wanted to caution you on Dr. Google. If you look in the history of the "Pregnancy Test" boards on here, you will see that this thing (no positive test, but late) happens often. I personally have never seen a thread where someone has come back and said that the blood test showed they were pregnant. I apologize if I sound harsh, I just read where you said there was a "good chance," and got concerned that this post you read was convincing you that the negative HPT / positive blood work thing is more common that it is. It's extremely rare - and I agree with @T.H.O.U.: that it's usually because of bad HPT's. I just looked it up and there was a study (linked below) that indicates that you have a 1% chance of being pregnant after 9 days of missed period and still having a negative pregnancy test.

If I had to make a guess, you most likely had an anovulatory cycle due to the stress of your wedding, honeymoon, etc. You might not feel stressed (I didn't at my wedding), but travel and just change in general can impact your cycle. If you lost a few lbs before the big day, that can also impact your cycle as well.

I would just go get a blood test if you are concerned - it will answer your question! I know I'd be driving myself crazy.

Personally, I'm sure there are bad HPTs (and bad user error) but the odds are still probably less than 5% can be pregnant and get negatives past 5 weeks.

I'm especially skeptical of the ones that say they had a neg blood test and a neg home test. I would guess dates are more likely just off.

I didn't read the comments, but I know that with my youngest sister my Mom's HPTs kept telling her it was negative. It was bloodwork that confirmed what she knew all along - that she was pregnant. I hope you get answers soon! I know stress (I mean , it's stressful HOPING you're BFP As well as hoping you're not) sometimes delays O/ AF. But I hope you get your wish :goodluck: :goodluck:

I googled "Pregnant but with negative pregnancy tests" and this thread popped up.
http://www.babycenter.com/400_negative-hpt-but-still-pregnant_1825563_156.bc?startIndex=10&sortFieldName
What are your thoughts on the comments these women have posted? It makes me feel like there is a good chance I'm pregnant even though I've had negative tests at 14 days late for my period. Any similar experiences to these women? Thank you. :)
