The baby/toddler is actually in the water and can splash, unlike the big blow up floats. I think they're suggested through 24 months, so it may not be perfect for you, but I would definitely put a 2yo in there. They're cheap and small, so nice to have.</p> <p>Another idea would be a Puddle Jumper. It would definitely last you longer than the float, and could be used at the beach. I think 2 is a good age for one (my nephew used one at 16 months &amp; was fine even though it was a little big).
