Swaddle, soother, lights out and a kiss--- then I'm outta there! Sometimes I have to run back in to replace a soother once or twice. He is 7m now.

I don't use tricks. I just set him in his crib after I read a book and sing a song and he either happily lies there and falls asleep or happily lies there for a second, cries for a few seconds after I walk out, and then falls sleep shortly after. When he was sleeping beside our bed I did try putting my hand on his chest and I think he did like that. It didn't last long though, unfortunately.

LO is still brand new but she loves to have her bum patted when she is falling asleep. I do the hand trick when I put her in her crib. She is swaddled and on her back. I'll usually lay her down and put one hand on her chest and one down by her knees. After two minutes I'll remove the hand from her chest and then after another 2 minutes I'll remove my other hand and walk away.

I sing lo the same song every single time I put her down for a nap. She definitely associates it with sleep, and as soon as I sing the first line she starts yawning. After two verses, she's out!

LO doesn't like it when I dilly-dally. When I'm cradleing her for a few snuggles, she gets annoyed and tries to scramble out of my arms and into the crib!

Right now, since she is so young, I just have to keep her moving. Rocking, bouncing, walking around. I'll have to remember the hand trick when she gets a little bigger though.

In addition to all the usual tricks, one of the best ones Bee taught me is to put your hand on your LO's back. The hand comforts them, and then you can slowly move your hand away over the course of 5-10 minutes... and they will usually stay deep asleep.

That one worked for me just now, woohoo!!
