We have a K'tan, a Moby and a Boba Carrier. We both use the Boba carrier the most. My husband loves it - and often uses it while he's grilling or even playing his guitar :) I use it when I go to the grocery store and walk around our neighborhood. We love the fact that our newborn fits in it without having to buy any extras, and we also love the little sun shade that comes with it.
I'd highly recommend it!

@Mrs.M57: At a meeting I was at last week, 3 moms were carrying bigger babies and one was carrying a toddler in a ring sling! Worked better for the less squirmy babies.
@kjn: 5'1" to 6'4" wow.
@Habesbabe: I can work with that. You want a sleeping hood or a nursing hood? We could start with a light fabric like muslin (nursing privacy) that had elastic loops. The loops would go around the snaps on the sides or around buttons you sew under the headrest (so it works with headrest up or down. Or you could use diaper safety pins (easy).

At the top of the fabric square, you just need something to easily clip onto the shoulder straps, no? A button on each shoulder + elastic loops on top = easy.

So... Let's say you buy a fabric quarter from the quilting section and use iron on hemming tape (in a pretty color). All you need is some elastic, and two buttons (or 4 if you unclip the headrest). Easy peasy.

AND practically no-sew (just the buttons and the edge of the elastic.).

If you don't want to use buttons you could use this fastener (cute) http://www.joann.com/rayon-braid-frog-closure-black-3-x1-3-4-/prd34733/

We have the Bjorn, moby and a seven slings.
Moby was great when she was tiny, especially around the house, she would fall asleep.
Bjorn we have used for a while now, and LO loves it facing forward, but now that she's 17 lbs it kills my back after 5 minutes.
@pastemoo: I'm with you on the side carry with the seven slings sling, it's so portable and LO likes that she can look around.

I'd like to get a nice ring sling, has anyone used ring slings with older babies 6 months+ Just wondering if it's worth it?

@Pastemoo I'm surprised about the seven slings! Maybe one day I'll give it a shot (but LO is only about 8 lbs now.)

@pastemoo: those hooks are actually for the head support thingy... it's like a flap that goes up and down to help younger babies hold up their heads. you can see it up in that picture :) the model i have doesn't have those hooks/d-rings anymore, but a plastic snap.

http://www.becobabycarrier.com/cat-17/gemini-LE

They make hooks for a hood. Is that the same carrier? It would be not-too-hard to use these (and D-rings if yours doesn't have it) to attach the hood.

@Mrsbells: Maybe. I'm only 5'0..... also he didn't like it at first but as I have lost more weight the sling fits much much better. Now would I prefer a nicer sling? TOTALLY. But for the $12... it is pretty good. I can take him in the grocery store or a walk but wouldn't take him in that pouch sling all day.@HabesBabe: I'm sure I could figure out a way to make a hood for you. :) I have not used the hood on my ergo more than once because I couldn't reach the snaps (they are behind my back!)

@pastemoo: Yeah I did try it recently. I am 5ft 11 so I don't know if ite because of my height, maybe I didnt order the right size, but its just either too loose or too tight and my baby starts makin faces and cries because she isnt comfortable. I think I would have preferred a ring sling like the maya,

2 ergos! both home and out, but mostly out.

Tried the moby and just wasn't practical for us with the long piece of fabric. Currently trying the k'tan for home, but am probably sending it back. I got the right size for my measurements/current size, but the babes don't feel very secure up top.

We have 3: Ergo sport, Seven sling, baby bjorn

My favorite is the ergo sport, i love carrying my baby on my back in this. I can be cooking or doing dishes and she is comfortably on my back and usually goes right to sleep. The bad thing about this is you have to wait until baby is atleast about 4 months old to use it. If you want to use it sooner you need to buy the separate insert. I really tried to like the insert but ended up returning it.

I received the baby born carrier used as a gift. I know its not the best for the babies hips and it doesnt even look comfortable for them but my babyliked it and would always sleep in it too. I think its best for younger smaller babies but after about 30- 40 minutes of using it I get super achy

The sling by seven slings is just useless, I really tried to like it, I got it for free and only had to pay for shipping but the fabric isnt great and its not adjustable so its quite hard to use.

I have the ergobaby (sport) carrier but I'm too short for it so I'm going to return it and get a smaller one or a different brand. I do love the hip strap soft carriers--so much easier on the back.

The baby bjorn carrier worked great when LO was newborn (he was 8lbs+), and the pouch sling worked great once LO could hold up his head. They do make bjorn carriers that have the hip strap--and those ones are great! Of course mine is the kind that gives you a backache now that LO is 17 pounds.
