Pottery barn blackout ruffle curtain. It works way better than the $20 one I bought on Amazon

In H's room, we have cheap blackout curtains from the dollar store. They aren't pretty but they do the job. In our room, we have roller blinds under the wood blinds and they are also ok. The bad thing about the roller blinds is that they don't roll up all the way so our room isn't as bright as it could be.

@Foodnerd81: yes they are pricey! That site has the best prices when I ordered them last year. And they are totally customizable which will work great for your needed length. I hope you like them as much as we do!

We have ours inside mounted so there is a gap on either side but that doesn't bother me and we do/will have curtains up as well, which will hide it. You can outside mount them, so they would be longer and that should eliminate that issue if you didn't want curtains/drapes too.

@anbanan15: we are considering those blinds you posted for sure. It's just so expensive when you have ten windows to do.

@reyorra: @SeptMomma12: those levolor don't come in a long enough length :(

We have the blinds I posted in the other thread, but only blackout in our room and light filtering in the kids rooms. I got room darkening curtain rods and blackout curtains for their rooms. The curtain rods makes it so that the curtain wraps around the side of the windows.

@reyorra: oh thanks- I think my friend recommended these too and I forgot the name.

@Truth Bombs: glad i don't have the o lu fancy pants husband. :)

Part of our problem is most of the cheaper options don't come in the length we need- our windows are 77 inches tall. Which is great during the day when we want light.

Levolor blackout cellular blinds from Lowes. We loved them so much in our last house that I bought them for every bedroom window in our new house, even though we have more than twice as many windows! I spent almost $1000 to buy shades for 12 windows of various sizes, but I had a coupon, so it's probably more in reality. The wider the window the higher the cost. The best thing about the shades is that you can have them cut to whatever size you want and they cut them in store while you wait (I think it took at least an hour to cut what I needed). If you're worried about light peeking in, you can measure the blinds wider than the window to overhang the wall a bit more.

We have the eclipse brand from target. They work really good. I think they were about $20 per panel.

We have pottery barn blackout curtains in the nursery. Sounds like they are pretty similar to what you have in your master because they are great where they cover, but light gets in around the corners. Doesn't bother me or LO... But she's not very sensitive to light. My husband is fancy pants like yours. He freaks out if I leave the bathroom door open even a crack while I'm getting ready and he's still in bed. He acts like the sliver of light is torture.

What kind of room darkening or blackout window treatments do you have? Do you like them? If you don't mind saying, how much did they cost?

Currently we have room darkening shades on both the master and the nursery. The curtains in the master do a good job except around the edges where they aren't flush with the window frame and light gets in there- I can handle this but my fancy pants husband is bothered by the light, especially in the morning. He wants to get blackout blinds or shades but the nice blackout cellular ones are expensive and we have 8 big windows in our bedroom.

Nursery had "blackout " curtains from ikea but they let a ton of light in, so I have those black paper blinds from Home Depot in there behind the pretty curtains. I'd really like something that isn't paper and taped to the window. She jus had two big windows.

Curious what others have and like!
