Since I saw your post, I just tried again and realized if i use just a tiny bit of force, it goes in fine like you said!! We went through a few cheap ones before I found this one and I really like it. It can hold soap in it too but the only thing is that the soap just kind of drips out when you use it, which is fine, but I felt like we used soap quicker that way.
