I got a PISA but it was over 2 years ago so who knows what they are covering now. I"m planning to get another PISA if I can because I already have all the equipment and parts, etc.

My old insurance only covered PISA. I haven't checked with new insurance because I'm. Not sure that I really need a second pump.

I got a Hygeia through my insurance and was very happy with it. I previously bought a Hygeia out of pocket with my first, and it's a great pump. EP'd for a year!

I got a PISA. I have one from last time too which I bought on my own before insurance covered them. I liked it from last time so I thought it would be good to have a backup that's the same,

@Mrs. Pen: My insurance covered spectra, medela pisa, ameda and lansinoh. I had also never heard of spectra but I ended up ordering it. I am happy with it so far. I had an issue with mine and they replaced it right away. Its super quiet, features a closed system and pumps really well. The only thing I dont like is that it doesnt have a battery option. But to be honest I have never needed to use the battery option. I have the spectra S2

Good to know: The OEM flages that come with the Hygeia don't fit standard narrow-neck bottles, but they do fit Mam, Thinkbaby and Lansinoh mOmma bottles. They also sell an adapter ring that you can use to pump directly into narrow-neck bottles.

I had a good experience with it. Over the course of my pumping time also used a Spectra 9 and a Bellema Melon and liked it better than either of those. My Spectra 9 could be hacked to use Hygeia/Medela/generic parts, but, it was kind of a pain.

I've never used a PISA, S1 or S2 to compare to though.

@lilyofthewest: do you like hygeia? I didn't see as many reviews in general and had never heard of the brand before. But it's also listed as "hospital grade".

HygeiaQ, PISA, or a Spectra 2. I picked the hygeia because I wanted infinitely and independently variable speed and suction, but also wanted to be able to get a bunch of cheap parts. You can use Medela tubes/flanges/valves (and thus also all the cheap knockoff Maymom ones) with the Hygeia.

Just the standards, both times.

I got a PISA last time, and got another PISA delivered. I considered the Spectra, but since I already have everything Medela and it worked for me last time, I just decided to go for it again. My old one will just stay at home for when I have to pump and I'll bring the new one to work where I'll pump the most.

I had the option of Medela PISA or Spectra. Since I already had a Medela PISA from my last pregnancy I chose the Spectra this time. I think it's great. No complaints!

I had the option of a Medela PISA or Freestyle. I chose the Freestyle and love it.

I've heard great things about the Spectra.

I have had two PISA through insurance. The first one was awful that when I left my second one on a flight I bought a spectra S2 out of pocket and I love it. It's not 100% perfect, but if we're just talking milk output, it's so much better than the PISA IMO. I don't like the pump parts as much, and you really have to use the collection bottles it comes with (I could pump directly into Dr. brown with PISA) but I can deal with that. I highly recommend the spectra!

I'm just doing some preliminary research and a few websites gave me a list of pumps they assume will be covered based on where I live and my insurance company.

The only "hospital-grade" pump on the lists I was provided that would be covered is the "Spectra". I had never heard of it, but after reading reviews on amazon, it sounds like a really great pump.

The only medela one covered would be PISA (also ameda purely yours, hygeia, lansinoh and tomy).

Did you have a selection to choose from? Any recommendations based on the list I have? I'm leaning spectra because of the good reviews! I may ask my midwife what they've had the best experience with.
