I probably wouldn't eat sushi from a strip mall in the Midwest, we live on the coast and know the owners of our favorite sushi place and know when he gets his fish in, so it's super fresh. I'm comfortable with where we source our steak and the slaughter conditions; so it's not like it's coming from somewhere sketchy or a chain restaurant that might not take all the proper procautions or buys meat from factory farms. I have a medical background and so I tend to be on the more cautious side. Getting in a car everyday is a risk but people just need to be comfortable with the risks they take. I can’t imagine women in Japan all stop eating sushi completely while pregnant (?) – I know my coworker’s Japanese wife continued to eat sushi during both her pregnancies.
