@sorrycharlie : I know.... I cried a bit inside when I purchased it... And vowed to have at least 4 kids so I could feel it was worth it haha :) I think the snap n go is a great way to go, too:) we just live in a small place (no storage for another stroller) and we were itching to take the citymini out right away!

@tysonja: awesome to know! I got a second hand snap and go because of the price of the darn adapter. I couldn't get over how much it cost!

We have the citymini 2012 with the chicco adapter and the key fit carseat -- we love it!

Even with the carseat locked ontop, it is still a pretty compact system and drives smoothly (and looks cute!). We haven't tried fitting both the citymini sunshade AND the adapter/carseat at the same time, but I don't feel it is really necessary - having the chicco sunshade at the baby's head and using a muslin blanket draped over the front seems to have better airflow than if both sunshades were used, I imagine.

Some things to note -- you might have noticed on the BRU comments and around the web a bunch of comments about how difficult it is to install the chicco adapter made by babyjogger -- and how many people couldn't get their carseats to snap in, so they only used the safety straps, and so were very dissapointed -- although the initial installation required some adjustments (use the black knobs to lengthen or shorten the bars to line up to the carseat 'snaps'), it 100% snaps in and is a cinch to use after the initial adjustment! You should be able to lift the whole stroller up by the carseat handle and have it not jiggle a bit.

I think the only caveats I can think of is that since you are planning to get the GT (love the wheels!) and the keyfit30, both those items are a bit heavier than the ones we bought -- maybe just check to see if u are comfortable with the extra weight? (maybe consider getting the regular key fit (up to 22 lbs) -- by the time baby is 22lbs he/she is usually too tall for most carseats and baby+carseat gets reeeeaaalllyy heavy.) Finally, the adapter costs quite a bit and I'm not sure about the resell value since it is a less common item.

I didn't know that the sunshade can be used with the universal adapter and other carseats---is that true? Pretty cool, if so!

Hope that helps and sorry for the essay! We love our citymini and chicco and don't regret shelling out for the adapter (it really shouldnt cost so much -- just two metal tubes and some plastic!! Haha)

I went to a specialty Baby store (local independent but major in the DC area) and they are the ones that said the Chicco couldn't be used with the sunshade on the City Mini. I did hear from another local baby store that supposedly Baby Jogger is redesigning the adapter and new ones are due out soon. Supposedly the new adapter will allow car seats to sit lower down. I wonder if this would help the sunshade issue, but I didn't think to ask that store about the sunshade and I didn't have them show me the Chicco on the Mini as I did the store that mentioned the sun shade issue and took it off to install the Keyfit on the stroller.

So complicated.

We just got this stroller and were planning to register for a chicco keyfit, and we're wondering the same thing.

I saw one comment on the BRU website that a chicco-only adaptor was shipping as of June 2012, and that universal adaptors started shipping in July which will accomodate the chicco and other seats. If you check the baby jogger website, there is only one adaptor listed, and it accomodates several car seats.

This doesn't answer your question but we used the City Mini without a car seat. We just reclined all the way and used a snuzzler when he was very little.

we have the city mini and a chicco keyfit 30. we aren't using the adapter to make a travel system, we're using a snap and go while she's too young for the city mini. the safety ratings on the carseat were more important to me. i also read in reviews that if installed correctly, you can still use the sunshade, because they are two different connection spots. I'd go to your local BRU or BBB and ask them to perhaps show you how the adapter fits with a carseat?

We're pretty sold on the City Mini Stroller, probably the GT model. I was going to go the the Chicco Key Fit 30 car seat but apparently to use it with the adapter on the City Mini you have to remove the sun shade. I think with the Graco you can still use the stroller's sunshade. Would you go with the Graco seat in that case? I think the KeyFit get a bit better ratings though. what car seats are folks using with the city mini.
