(LO is 6 mos.) She was born at the end of may, so it was too warm for the insert so we got a k'tan for my husband. It was useful, I guess, but not a huge success... he found it very stressful to get on and she took a while to get used to it (that may have just been her personality, but...). I had a Seven sling that was free and I actually really liked it for the early days... not enough support to use once she was bigger, but definitely worth it if you can get it for free with a Pea in the Pod purchase. S is 9wks and still needs the infant insert though. It fits Dh much better as I have a pretty short torso with narrow shoulders and it's a little cumbersome. I started using it at less than a week old with DS2 with the infant insert. It's great when I need my hands free and baby is cranky and in need of a nap. Then the ergo was a lifesaver for my back. Have you tried bringing the clasp in the back as low as it will go so its mid back instead of just below the neck? That made a huge difference for my shoulder pain. It's harder to clip in but still do-able. Just make sure the adjustable strap part is super long before putting baby in. Ergo was great once she got bigger. We had a Bjorn that my husband liked but I didn't like it. We also borrowed a ring sling which I didn't ever get comfortable with. I lasted less than a month with it. Which was annoying because I got the active mesh so it was quite expensive. There's not a lot to chose from where I live but a local baby store started carrying Olives and Applesauce carriers. Made by a mom in the States, her company has really grown. I love the carrier, I use it every day with DD. I never had any problem with it being long, and LO was a winter baby, so the extra warmth was nice for both of us!</p> <p>now that he's older we only use the ergo. I back carried him round the airports on our long haul trip when I was around 20 weeks pregnant and felt fine! I think it was also that I wasn't putting her in right, to be fair. The moby I was able to get nice and tight and she felt more securely tucked in. WE Started using it at less than three weeks, but she was over 8 lbs at birth. We definitely would both be pretty sweaty when she came out but I'd take secure and sleeping and sweaty any day. </p> <p>Also this is weird but I borrowed two different mobys and the black one is a lot stiffer/ tighter than the blue one. I wanted to love the ktan but I just didn't. I didn't think I'd like the moby but we loved it, even though we got really hot in it (Lo was born end of July). Once I got the hang of it I could put it on really quickly. They both have wide seats and you can get Tula's in toddler sizing. Boba's have feet straps for the older kidlets too, I can't speak of how useful they are though as we haven't gotten there yet. If I remember correctly, both go up to 45lbs. Not sure what the toddler sized Tula goes up to weight wise.</p> <p>A woven wrap might be an option too, if wrapping is something you're interested in? I got a kozy because it also had great reviews and was able to get one second hand for a great price. I think kozy also has a wider seat and better for toddlers. The Beco Gemini and Ergo have worked for us in the past from infancy to toddlerhood... </p> <p>For future baby, I have my eyes on the Beco Soleil and new Ergo Wrap (not out yet, but Lucie's List blogged about it). I'd also maybe want something super compact like the Boba Air. </p>
