DH is actually way better than me at doing stuff with LO. He'll do laundry with LO, take out the trash with LO, cook dinner with LO, do yard work with LO... when LO was little, DH would strap him into the Ergo and use the manual/push lawnmower and everything. I'm the one who sucks at getting anything done with LO. We've gotten ok at putting away dishes together, and putting away toys takes forever but we can do it. I'll enlist LO to help put away his clothes since I don't really care if he just shoves them into a drawer, but I can't do it with any laundry that needs to be folded or hung nicely.

My husband is like that. It is really frustrating. He's already someone who wants to focus on just one thing at a time, and unlike me, he's never had to push through and learn how. If he were a stay at home parent our house would be trashed. He's a great dad so I just let it go, but it is frustrating for sure.

We try to get chores done when LO is doing independent play time on his activity mat. Yesterday, I was folding laundry down the hall and DH was at the computer in sight range of LO. Our little guy rolled over to his tummy and both of us completely missed it! I put LO in the Bumbo seat when I get laundry started sometimes.

I can do everything with dd
Now that I have two, I can't throw out the trash, vacuum the wood floors..
That's about it.

I can't do laundry when I am home alone with LO because the laundry isn't in our unit, it is downstairs for everyone in the building to share. So I have to do it when she isn't around, or when DH can help.

@Thehistoryofus: i hear ya. My DH is helpless too. But he's gotten way better. I'm always amazed when I come home from an errand that both kids are still alive. It will get easier as she's more independent too.

@T-Mom: Thanks! I hope it will get easier for me AND dh!

I just get frustrated some times that he can't do practically anything with her around!

It gets better! DD helped me fold laundry today (she is 4) but seems like just yesterday she would attack the laundry like your DD! I have a lot of trouble cooking with DS around. He is just always at my feet and when he realizes I am cooking, he wants to eat NOW and then I have to scramble to try and find something for him to snack on without burning what I'm cooking!

There are a few things I struggle with doing while home alone with LO (17 months). Things like folding clothes without her attacking the pile and undoing what I just did. The dishwasher is tough but I just make sure to unload while she is in her high chair.

It seems like there are so many things DH can not do while watching a baby. Cooking dinner, requires his full attention (seriously he stands there and waits for water to boil). Today he said I couldn't go to the groceries store while she is napping because he was doing yard work and burning leaves. What would he do IF she woke up.

I try to find ways for him to spend more alone time with her and he's great alone with her but he hardly ever does any chores while alone with her (dirty dishes after feeding her sit on the counter, bottle from bed time on the couch).
