The rest of the class was pretty basic/useless. We also took a breastfeeding class, which was also pretty useless. We mostly did it to meet other couples since we are the first among my friends to have children, and DHs friends all have older children.</p> <p>I didn't take childbirth because my plan was always to get an epidural. I think it helped me to be less nervous and to be more confident in myself. I'm happy I took all of them, but I think the most useful for me was the pain management one. That one gave me a lot of positions to try while in labor, some breathing techniques, and a realistic picture of how long a contraction would last for. I knew a lot of it, but actually there was quite a bit that I hadn't thought of. They talked a bit about everything and quite a bit about safety and soothing. It really helped DH to know what to expect and then to have a solution. He was the master swaddler and diaper changer after that class.
