I am due at the end of Nov/early Dec, and I am registering for SOME clothes, since I am picky and may return everything else people end up gifting me lol!

I did a few footed onesies, some regular long sleeve onesies and then pants, hats/socks (can't find mittens I like, I guess I can always put socks on her lol), a few wearable swaddles & sleep sacks.

I'm also hoping that the clothes on my registry will give people an idea of the colors/styles I like!

I wouldn't register for clothes. People are going to buy what they want to buy, not what you want.

Onesies and pants for the day. Then sleepers for night!

My baby was an April baby but we did footed sleepers almost exclusively until it warmed up. I never had a strong preference between zip and snap because both have their pros and cons.

K lived in footed sleepers for her first two months. We preferred snap up ones, because you could keep the top done up during diaper changes.
We never used the gowns, though some people swear by them.
Scratch mitts were good for the first little while, but we didn't use them much. And rather than a snowsuit, we used a car seat bunting (like a big fleece shower cap for the car seat).

Xander was born in February and lived in footed sleepers. We rarely even did the onesie underneath - it was just too much of a hassle.

Depends on how often you will do laundry. I aimed to do a load every other day, so that meant I needed three full days of changes.

we didn't register for any clothes. we were team green and ended up getting only a few things, mostly in larger sizes!
it worked out well, though, because we found we liked to do pants/onesies during the day, and then gowns at night. We especially loved the baby soy kimono gowns (I got them from amazon). We ended up not using the sleep and plays very much, but I know most people love them. I also had a spring baby, so maybe that was part of it. My friend who had a fall baby sometimes layered two snap and plays over each other- I think Gap often makes these quilted one piece things? She liked those a lot.
For a cold weather baby, I'd want to have some really nice hats- maybe some soft merino wool pilot caps? And wool or thick cotton sweaters. I preferred to use natural fibers over polyester (fleece) at first, and our doctor recommended that too- I guess skin can be sensitive to synthetic fabrics.

I actually liked side snap onesies and snap footed sleepers. I also liked having a snowsuit and hat. My two LOs were end of November and end of December and since we live in a city with no car, I HAD to take them out in the stroller, so I would bundle them in the snowsuit.

@loveisstrange: We preferred snaps too! I think it'd be especially useful in winter so you don't have to expose your baby's whole torso to the cold air! Also the NB PJs were too big on my LOs for quite a while and the zipper always bumped up near their faces. The snap ones laid flat against their bodies even when they were too big! We also preferred the Carter's sleep and plays with the built in mittens. Couldn't keep those little baby mittens on at all!

You probably want a lot of the sleep and plays (the footed pjs). I probably would have used those almost exclusively if my baby had been born in the cold months.

I thought gowns were nice during the first few weeks, but I didn't use them after that.

Never used socks, caps, or mittens. I think you will want a cap for taking baby out to the far or outside though, but shouldn't need one inside. Baby should dress similarly to what you would wear/cover.

I used onesies all the time. I think for fall/winter they have long sleeves. My baby is an April baby so we used the short sleeve ones a lot.

The little sunsuit/romper type things are my absolute favorite but you don't want those in December!

I had a January baby.

Zippered sleeper (sleep n plays, whatever you want to call them)?are almost all we used during the day. I hated onesies because then you had to do pants and socks and socks are a huge pain to keep on!! We probably ended up with about 10 sleepers

We did gowns at night with a Halo swaddle sleep sack. I liked that combo because the sleep sack unzipped from the bottom and the gown is open on the bottom so you could change a diaper easily. Then the swaddle on the sack was sooo much easier than trying to swaddle with a blanket in the dark half asleep! We had maybe 5 gowns and 2 sleep sacks.

I would NOT register for clothes - stock changes constantly, and people are going to basically buy whatever clothes they see and think are cute no matter what your registry says. I'd stick to other kinds of baby gear for your register. The only exception I'd make would be the sleep sacks - since they're kind of a newer thing not everyone knows about them, and the stock on them isn't always changing the way it does for clothes.

Once your shower happens you can take inventory on what you have, but typically a whole bunch of people will give onesies (and yes, onesies are the same thing as body suits), and probably outfit sets that also include pants since you're having a November baby. I ended up with a lot of socks too. It's tough to list quantities because it really depends on the person (are you the type to change LO every time they spit up, or only if they do it badly? Do you care if their socks and hat match their outfit? etc), and also on how often you want to do laundry!

Lots of sleep n plays (I'll dissent and say snaps all the way! I loved snaps because then I didn't have to expose the whole upper body to change diapers.), some onesies and pants, socks, hats, mittens.

Thats really it... they dont need much. I had an early spring baby in the UK, so it was cold.

I had a summer baby, so mine might be different, but I loved the long sleeved, fold over mitt side snap (kimono) tops. Easy to check the diaper, nothing to pull over her head, and the mitts keep scratchy nails from scratching the face. Five would be plenty since they are just good for that first week or so, while they are so so wobbly.

C lived in onesies pretty much, but if it was cooler I'd get more sleep and plays (footed pjs). No need to worry about socks. We were gifted more socks than she ever wore, and I have so many hand me down caps and she wore them, like, 3 times.

I wouldn't register for a ton though because people will give them to you anyway.

Oh and sleep gowns are those things like are like a long sleeve shirt on top and go down past their feet with elastic at the bottom, to make diaper changes easier. I meet used then since we swaddled from day 0.

We never used mittens or caps. LO lived in gowns (which are like sleepers or long sleeve onesies on top but with a gown style bottom with elastic vs. Legs/feet style) for the first few weeks. I was terribly nervous about putting clothing over that wobbly little head/neck of hers, so we did a lot of stuff that was easy to pull up instead of down haha

She also lived in just onesies.

Zip up footed sleepers are clutch. I liked having at least 6.
I also really loved kimono style, long sleeved, side-snap onesies from H&M. I had 3 of them.
I hated gowns because his little feet and legs got cold, and socks just got lost.
I believe we had 3 pairs of mittens - he didn't really need them.
We had 2-3 caps and he stopped wearing them pretty early.

Putting together our registry (man, it's HARD!) and trying to figure out what type of clothes and how many of various items to register for... LO will be born in November, so I don't think we'll be going out a ton. And I'm assuming people will give lots of onesies (are those the same as "body suits"?) Here are some of the things on the BBB checklist. If you could share thoughts on quantities, that would be great, thanks!

- side snap tees
- body suits
- caps
- mittens
- socks
- gowns (?? what are gowns?)
- footies
