Maybe check it out at home depot or wherever. I'm pretty sure they carry more neutral stuff in stock. It may work. I would recommend going yellow! I've got a bright blue frame on a piece of art that looks like it's about the same color as your desktop, and it looks great against the walls. When I get around to doing a rug, it will probably have some bright or navy blue in it, too.
