The vet told us that the shih tzu we adopted from my grandma needed to have its teeth cleaned, and then presented an estimate of $600.00. Eek! </p> <p>I balked at that price, so I called the rural vet my dad uses in my hometown. The price? $85 for the same exact thing! So yesterday morning I packed up the dog and we left the house at 5:00 AM to be at the rural vet before 8:00 AM. I had to hang out in town all day, and then drive home in the evening, but it was totally worth it to save $500.00 It's kind of like going overseas for plastic surgery, without the glamor! </p> <p>What crazy things have you done to save money? </p>
