@OurEastAndWest: My cd3 they do draw blood to make sure the estrogen and hcg are where they should be and check that you definitely are not pregnant and then bloodwork again at day 12ish or whenever they choose to tell me to come back. I understand the pincushion feeling!!

@LabradorLover: Good luck to you as well! :goodluck: I always liked the CD 3 ultrasound the most because I didn't have to have any blood drawn like the later ones ha :silly: I already HATE needles and after all this infertility business you start to feel like a pincushion! Thanks again, hopefully our IVF appointment will provide some much needed clarity

@OurEastAndWest: It is so weird how different it can be from one place to another. Had my cd3 monitoring this morning so we shall see what they say later today! I will most likely be starting the pills tonight. Good luck to you with your next journey!!

I personally have taken Clomid not Femera and I also ovulate on my own, but it's unexplained infertility so they will throw anything at me to see if it sticks ha. When I was at my OBGYNO she had me take Clomid CD 5-9. When we moved over to the fertility clinic, they had me take it CD 3-7 for our IUIs. My best friend's OBGYNO has her taking Femera for her PCOS CD 3-7 as well. It seems like it's more of a personal preference on the provider's part but maybe 5-9 is a little more old school?? My acupuncturist said CD 3-7 is the most common for her patients, hardly anyone does 5-9 anymore.

Either way, good luck to you!!! :goodluck:  :goodluck:

The nurse called me back today and told me that days 3-7 is their standard and haven't ever told anyone to do 5-9. She said since I am producing very mature follices, there is no need to change when I take it. She wasn't sure what the difference would be, if any, but was going to discuss with the NP to see if she had any different thoughts.

Hopefully third time will be the charm and this cycle will finally work for us!

@LabradorLover: I also took it cycle day 3-7 (this is our first cycle on it with trigger shot.) I don't know if it worked yet because I am still in the 2ww.

@mrskansas: yes, they are that long when I'm not on femara. With femara they are normal 28-29 days. Basically I have prolactin issues and it tends to be a little higher than normal. I take a medication for that which helped shorten my cycle a little but not much. So not totally sure if it's a case of not ovulating but I definitely don't ovulate until way later in my cycle. Femara has made it happen on day 15 both times so far.

@LabradorLover: my cycles varied in length from 35-95 days and I did not ovulate on several of them on Femera my cycles were 28 days. I have been diagnosed with PCOS and hypothyroid.

@LabradorLover: So your cycles are 35-40 days when you're not medicated? How did they confirm that you're not ovulating?

@snarkybiochemist: were your cycles normal? Mine have been 35-40 days but I don't have PCOS. RE said both DH and I are extremely fertile just that I don't ovulate on my own, hence the Femara.

Congrats, by the way!

I took it days 3-7 and then 2-6. Neither cycle worked but it was unrelated to the days I took it.

Hi ladies,

I am on cycle day 1 today and will be starting my third cycle of femara, trigger shot and TI. This is our last shot at this until we switch to something else. We have been ttc for 16 months now and honestly, I am over the whole process.

My RE has told me for the last two cycles to take my Femara on cycle days 3-7. My Bestie (who is now 4 months pregnant and conceived on her first cycle with Femara) was told to take her pills on cycle days 5-9. I understand that we are different people and the days the pills were taken are not necessarily the reason why she is pregnant and I am not...

I have read a lot of different things where one person says 3-7 and another says 5-9 and am trying to figure out if there is a difference between one versus the other? I am currently waiting to hear back from my RE now and will do what they tell me I should do but I was curious if anyone could help me out with this?

Thank you in advance!!
