I honestly don't think it matters in the long run and would rather go with whenever my doctor could be there or the date I liked rather than day of the week.
I guess I'd choose a weekday so whoever was watching the older child could drop them off at school during then. My last lo was a December baby so I just wanted my oldest to be out of school by then because flu season was so rough this year. All my kids actually were born on the weekend so I don't really know any different I guess!

I would probably pick sometime midweek and hope to be home by the weekend. (And congrats, btw!!! ).

My husband only got two weeks off last time and I was induced on a Sunday. Baby was born Wednesday so whole week was wasted in the hospital. I would probably choose a Thursday induction.

I would do Monday as well especially if big sister can't visit in the hospital. The routine of the school day would help with that. Plus what everyone else said about weekend shifts.

With my son, we arrived at the hospital mid-morning on a Wed, and he was born at 1am on a Thu. We went home on Saturday. All the staff was amazing.

My twins will ideally be born during week 36 and can't go past 36w0d due to pregnancy specifics. I assume an induction is likely because what are the odds of spontaneous labor so early? My pregnancy weeks cycle on Thursdays, so I will probably try to schedule the induction for Monday (36w4d) or Tuesday (36w5d) if hospital scheduling permits.

Unfortunately I had an emergency induction on a Saturday at noon- those shifts on the weekends are the least desirable. It was pretty rough until the A team as my husband called them came it at 7am on a Monday.

My husband is assuming the rare role of SAHD so, time off for him doesn't matter. Sounds like Wednesday or Monday are good bets. My first came on a Monday and the staff was great, I even got my fave ob from the practice to deliver her.

Monday. I actually basically did this - with my second they had me scheduled for a C section on Saturday and I asked to move it to a weekday because I figured that would be less of an impact on B’s schedule.

my other kids were both born on Tuesday by their own choice :silly: but if we induce this time, I think I will have Wed or Fri as choices and reading these would make me lean Wed so that (assuming all goes well) everyone could be home together the first weekend. My 6yo is going to be sooo into it I think! But in our case school won't quite have started yet anyway. From a work perspective, I think better for DH for it to be during the week because people are pretty understanding of the first couple days and less so as it goes on, so might as well be work days. But I can totally see other angles too!

Weekday, because the massage therapist at our hospital only works weekdays :)

Also, it worked well for DH to work some from the hospital mid-week and then it be the weekend when we went home.

My DH does not get paid leave. So I tried to avoid making him take too much time off.
With my first I chose Friday. He was born Saturday and we went home on Monday afternoon. With my second I chose Thursday and she was born thurs. I went home Saturday morning at 10am but she was still in the NICU. My OB told us the dates he was available and let us pick from there. I did not feel the hospital was understaffed. It was also easier over the weekend to have extended family and friends visit etc.

Thursday morning so you could go home over the weekend. My LOs were born Thurs, Fri, and Sat and it was nice because DH was able to take just 1-2 extra days of leave rather than returning at the end of the week so we ended up getting an extra 3 or 4 days that way.

ETA if he can't get extra leave, he would presumably go back for only a day or 2 to start which can also ease the transition for you.

I would (and did) choose Monday. I was induced on a Monday with my second. It was nice to finish up work on a Friday and have the weekend off before the induction. I went in Monday morning, gave birth in the early evening Monday, and came home on Wednesday. My OB was able to do the delivery, which was nice.

My first was born on a Sunday by the on-call doctor who did not seemed pleased with my timing (I arrived at the hospital in the middle of the night, and delivered mid-afternoon). The on-call doctor kept going home in between visits with my, but with my second my OB just went back to the office, which was attached to the hospital. Also, they did not have lactation consultants during the weekend.

Def Monday. Weekends are less staffed and you never know. I had a induction Wednesday morning. My 3rd was born that night. We were supposed to leave Friday morning but they wanted to check her jaundice levels again Friday afternoon. Thankfully it didn’t spike too much and we were allowed to discharge with the condition of us going to see our pediatrician the next morning (Saturday). If our pediatrician didn’t have Saturday hours then they would have kept us until Monday (!) because no Labs and the pediatrician that sees the baby wouldn’t be at the hospital over the weekend. We prayed a lot that day bc I had two other littles at home

I would choose Monday, but my practice doesn't schedule inductions on weekends anyway due to call-sharing logistics. I ended up going into labor with LO2 on a Saturday, had her Saturday night with a Monday discharge (had planned an induction that following Tuesday) and thought the hospital experience was better for LO1 (induction was a Wednesday, discharged Friday).

I would go with mid week too. I had a scheduled c-section on a Tuesday, went home Saturday morning. It was nice because my mom & dad could make it up to help some my first days home without having to take off work.

Also, your daughter being in school while you're in the hospital might make it easier on dad and who ever is watching her.

I'd do Monday if I had to pick in advance. But in actuality, once I knew I was being induced, my provider told me what days she was working that week and helped schedule my induction for the beginning of her shift so she'd be there for it, and that was the best scenario in my book.

Weekday, so you get the best care at the hospital. Weekends are shorter staffed (seriously, everyone clears out) and you’re less likely to get your own provider.

I'm planning waaaay ahead here... If you got to choose your induction date, what day would you choose?

Logistics:
-6 year old in first grade.
-Work full time and need to plan maternity leave.
-We have help for watching the 6 year old.
-Delivery will be during flu season and kids may not be allowed in the hospital for visitation.

Plan induction for Friday to hopefully deliver by Saturday and go home Monday.

Or

Plan induction for Monday so it's not a wasted weekend. 6 year old is in school while at the hospital.
