We had the best luck with the Target brand overnight diapers for our older DD. Our younger daughter is fine in her regular diapers overnight.

@periwinklebee: @SweetiePie: @Jennibenni: Thanks for the recommendation! I haven't been changing pee diapers until his early morning wakeup when it's soaked, but you've inspired me to stick a Sposie in there and see if we can make it through to morning. He definitely stays awake longer after a diaper change.

@waterbear: @SweetiePie: @Jennibenni: LO *hates* having his diaper changed overnight. He's fine during the day, but at night for some reason it leads to hysterical crying, so I'd also like to avoid changing at night whenever possible. The Sposies have worked great so far, they fit in the size 3 diapers and LO seems comfortable in them.

Thank you everyone for the recommendations!

@waterbear: You could still not change the 6 month olds diaper! As long as it’s just pee. My Ped told me at the like 1 month checkup for both kids that even if he wakes to eat at night, as long as it’s just pee, don’t change him to minimize stimulation! It worked very well to get him to go right back down after a feed and probably to get used to the feel of it so he doesn’t wake from it.

Add me to the Sposies fan club. We use them in the nighttime Pampers Swaddlers for my two-year-old and have for at least a year now. My six-month-old doesn't sleep for long enough at a stretch to need an overnight diaper. :meh:

First we did the same as daytime but a size up, then an overnight diaper (maybe around 1.5) and then an overnight diaper with a sposie (around 2) and then finally we are using goodnights pull ups at 2.75 (potty trained during the day)

Oh and if you do still need pads in the diaper, we used sposies for a long time from amazon. But those were when he was a little older (2-ish?) so I'm not sure they’d be small enough for our little babies now.

@periwinklebee: I like the babydry over the huggies overnights. And the babydry has always been marketed as “night” since it’s 12 hours protection. BUT I just saw that pampers now also has overnight swaddlers. I might try a small pack when I’m done with the babydry.

We use pampers babydry at night one size up! So I selected both of those options.

During the day we still use pampers swaddles right now. He’s 5 months. We eventually switch to Huggies Little Movers.

We cloth diaper during the day. At night, we tried Bumgenius Elementals with a large FuzziBunz insert, but even with those huge diapers, DD leaked through.

Now we use Pampers Swaddlers in an extra size up (size 4 instead of the size 3). She's usually dry in the morning now. We still use cloth during the day.

DD2 was a heavy wetter. We usually used cloth which worked best to sop it all up but when we didn’t Seventh Generatjon regular diapers worked for us. I think they’re a little bulkier than regular brands which are more slim which is great for daytime but not so much for night. I didn’t find much difference between Seventh Generation and the Honest Company overnights (except price 😬).

We started out with swaddlers. Then we tried Huggies and they were a disaster. I feel like they're short front-to-back?

I used pampers baby dry for a long time, but they're so expensive compared to target/up ad up brand, so I tried those (the overnight kind). They didn't work for us.

I'm back to baby dry for now, but have heard good things about honest co. overnights, so I have a box of those to try too. They tend to run small in the regular diapers, so I bought them a size up.

@periwinklebee: Could you double diaper at night with a larger size on backwards over the smaller one? I guess that's kind of the same idea as a diaper liner - I'm not familiar with those. If you go the double diaper route, you could make the outer ones a cheaper diaper (Luvs, Target, Kirkland, etc.) since they don't touch the baby and are really just a "backup" so don't need to be the best absorbancey.

@JJ2626: I also use Pampers Baby Dry as my all the time diaper, and have no issues using the same size overnight. I feel like they can "go longer" than other supposedly comparable diapers. IMO they definitely hold more than swaddlers, and fit my kids better than Cruisers.

Huggies have never been a good fit for my other girls, who were skinny. I'm starting to have some poop everywhere issues with my 21 month old DD3 though, and though very small for her AGE, she's a more solid build - we may give Huggies a try. It is really all about what fits the individual baby I think.

Thank you guys, this is super helpful! We don't have a target nearby, so I think I'll try the pampers baby dry with a liner - LO (6 months) is such a heavy wetter and gets so upset when we try to change his diaper during the night, but even with changes during the night we've been having multiple leaks.

We used Pampers Swaddlers day and night for the first several months. Once she got mobile, we used Pampers Baby Dry day and night. We never had good luck with Huggies - they always leaked - and I wasn't a fan of how the Target brand ones didn't feel as soft. Around the time she turned 2, we started using overnight pull-ups because she was leaking a lot at night in a diaper.
