I had BH contractions from about 18 weeks until the day I delivered. When the actual contractions started, they were period like cramps that came in waves and the pain would go completely away in between each one.

I just felt "off" for about 10 hours. I had Pressure, cramps and back pain. Then, I started getting contractions and those lasted for 12 hours. ALL of my contractions were in my back.

I was still having the braxton hicks pretty regularly when I went to bed but woke up and they were gone. I'm slightly dissapointed but happy because I want LO to cook for a few more weeks. Hopefully the contractions helped with some effacement and dialation though!

Mine also started off feeling like period cramps. They felt at first kind of like I had to go to the bathroom but went in a wave from front to back so they felt more like a cramp. I could also tell that they worked up to a peak and then died back down. I had also lost my mucus plug right when everything started.

I agree to time them and see if they're consistent. I was always afraid I wouldn't know I was in labor but it's true when people say you'll know when it happens.

I remember waking up when my husband was getting ready for work and I felt like I was getting my period - I had bad cramps. Then I tried to go back to sleep and my back started to hurt so I couldn't lay down. The cramps went from being constant and dull to having more spacing in between each wave of cramps and that's when I knew I was having actual contractions since I could pinpoint the start and end of each one. You might want to try timing your contractions to see if they're random or if they start to become more consistent at a steady pace?

I had "non-painful" contractions for a good 5 or 6 hours before they started to become painful and I was crying through them. You'll feel it in your gut when you know it's time!

I'm 36w3d and I'm having pretty regular Braxton Hicks contractions right now. I've been having them pretty consistenly for the last hour. They aren't painful just uncomfortable. I've been drinking plenty of water and I'm not staying in the same position. I'm getting some back pain with them but it's not really painful just annoying. I feel like I'm WAY over thinking it but what did early labor feel like for you? When did you call your doctor? How did you "know" it was labor?
