@SeptMomma12: my constantly vomiting, weight-gaining baby had MSPI, so I might not be much help. But we discovered that she had sensitivities to wheat and beef when she ate them directly (not through my milk). She threw up again, had mucousy poop, and screamed a lot after she ate them. It was hard to figure out connections, though, because it could have been something that I ate, as well as something that she ate. It sounds like she might have a stomach bug? At any rate, I would say oatmeal or sweet potatoes might be a good thing to try next. Good luck!!

@Astro Bee: Thanks! I think we're going to take a break for a few days and then try some sweet potato.

As for suggestions for next foods, all babies are different. Mine liked: sweet potato, fresh (not canned) peach, avocado, bananas, butternut squash, and broccoli. He hated: applesauce (homemade, so not sweetened), puréed plums, turkey, and chicken. He was ambivalent about peas, and carrots.

We had some weird looking poops when we first started solids. Actually we still do, after 1 1/2 months. A few times he has had some slight irritation on the sensitive skin around his anus, but the rest of his skin has been clear. I don't think of that as an allergy. Some cream and it's been fine the next day. We do min 3 mornings of a new food to see if there is an allergy, with a different (already cleared food) in the evening.

Just clarifying weird: butternut squash is stringy, peas have the outer "shell" unprocessed, carrots leave flecks of orange, broccoli mushy green poops, etc. You can really tell what they've eaten for a few days.

did you try any cereals like oatmeal to see if she reacted to that too?

Anyone? Any suggestions for what to try next since she appears sensitive to butternut squash?

I've been concerned about DD having some kind of food sensitivity since very early on because she spits up a ton (still all day long at 6 months) and has some mucus in her poop. But she's ridiculously happy, has no other symptoms, and I've been told every diaper I've brought to the pediatrician is "normal." I've been avoiding large dairy since 2 months, but I'm not super careful about hidden dairy/soy.

Anyway, we started solids this weekend. She had a few spoonfuls (maybe took in a total of 1 teaspoon, if that) of butternut squash on Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon her poop was suddenly NEON green and stringy. Then on Sunday we tried some more squash (she ate a lot more this time) and the green poop continued and her butt started to get very irritated. Same thing today.

I should also mention there's a bad stomach virus going around her class at day care, but she hasn't thrown up at all - just the green stringy poop and diaper irritation.

We're obviously going to stop the squash for a few days and try something new over the weekend, but did anyone else have a similar experience introducing solids? Does this sound like an allergy? Butternut squash seems like a really odd allergy!
