Cigarettes were, therefore, dirt cheap. Plus you could smoke in all buildings back then - so she used to chain smoke all day. Nice, huh?! My parents even used to smoke in bed back then, I remember it - and we shared a bedroom in a one bedroom flat until I was six!! Ever. </p> <p>3) I rode my bike every day - up and down the street, dodging the cars - and never had a helmet. Ever. </p> <p>4) I was put to sleep on my side and wedged into position between two pillows. Pillows!! What the....?!</p> <p>5) I was given alcohol frequently as a child. My mum was laughing the other day about how they gave me port and lemonade when I was 3 and I got really drunk and started trying to fight with the adults. What the actual....??</p> <p>6) Forget rice cereal, I was given CHOCOLATE at 5 weeks old!! Whaaaaat....??! I remember I used to take my seatbelt off because it wasn't comfortable and my parents making a "big deal" about keeping it on because they could now get a ticket. </p> <p>I used to love riding in back of my dad's pickup truck. Sometimes I would be sleeping when it was time for my Mom to pick my sister up from school, so rather than wake me up from my nap, she would leave me at home alone. The school is only a few minutes away, but still! Mom said she would leave crackers and a piece of cheese in my crib as a snack, so I would have something to munch on if I woke up :happy: </p> <p>2) When I was a baby, my parents let my sister feed me baby food unsupervised. She loved baby food, she she would feed me 1 bite for every 2 bites she ate. She also admitted years later to pressing my soft spot while she fed me. I don't think I was strapped in very tight at all. DH had no car seat at all!</p> <p>Once I graduated from the car seat, I just sat in the regular seat with no booster. That's not legal anymore!</p> <p>I also never wore a helmet for biking or skiing until I was in my 20s and nearly knocked myself out snowboarding on ice. Whenever we went on vacation we drove, so it would take hours. And the rule was that we could take off our seat belts… as soon as we got on the highway! lol. I always took a pillow and blanket and just laid across the back seat and tried to sleep or read a book or colored or something. He was a huge baby (just about 5.5kg when born) so i have now idea how 3 year old me managed.</p> <p>I would also take him for a walk around our neighbourhood in his stroller from when he was about 1, so that would make me 4 years old.</p> <p>And we were pretty much allowed free reign outside, we'd go out after breakfast and just wander around in the Woods and countryside until we got hungry, then we'd go Home again. That was pretty much the norm in my entire neighbourhood.</p> <p>I remember being 6 years old and being Home alone with my little brother, parents out for the evening. They would just ask the people around to keep an eye on me. Can you imagine doing that today? Someone would call the cops! </p>
