Talk to all of the teachers, get to see all of the rooms. Make sure you're comfortable with not just the room your lo would be in now but rooms they will move up to, as well. </p> <p>Things I am concerned with:<br /> Menus<br /> Daily Communication Sheets<br /> Naps<br /> Teacher Experience<br /> Holiday Schedule<br /> Outdoor Time - what do the kids do if they can't go outside for weeks on end because of weather? What's the playground like? Look safe? Is there shade? (Power outage, flooding)<br /> How many times has it closed in the last year? My coworker's DCP seems like it closed for an emergency about 6 times last year.</p> <p>I would also ask when the last license inspection was and what the findings were. Will you administer medicine if needed?</p> <p>Do we pay for days when baby is out due to SICKNESS? VACATION?</p> <p>Back up care if YOU are sick?</p> <p>What holiday/vacation days do YOU take? MLK? President? Yearly vacation? Do you work out back up care for those days?</p> <p>How do you discipline the children?</p> <p>Do you have any assistants? Who lives in the house/has contact with children? Do you smoke? Does anyone in the house smoke?</p> <p>Visitation policy? Can we stop by unannounced?</p> <p>Do you offer sibling discounts? Can we pick up early or late some days?</p> <p>Food….. do we provide all snacks/meals? And anything particular to your own preferences, for example if you want your DCP to have certain philosophies toward discipline or education. Ideally they won't leave you with too many questions as they should address the important things before you have to ask! Also, are there particular ways they require you to prepare bottles? I know to ask whether they send notes at the end of each day, what the ratio of kids to teachers is, what the sick policy is, and whether we could stop by at any time.</p> <p>I know I am missing a lot of issues.
