These are all such helpful ideas! I don't know why I hadn't realized he could try soft finger food. He eats puffs and teething crackers just fine, so I know the super gag reflex is gone. We originally started out with BLW and I made everything until the reflux got bad again, but now that I know what he likes I think I'll take your suggestions and make my own now!

We never used baby food. We just made our own. The "stages" thing is just a marketing gimmick so I wouldn't worry about that too much.

Yeah, we started making our own food for her and mashing it up less, for more texture. We also started doing more BLW/finger foods around this time too.

Is sweet potato an okay food? I used to do make a lot of sweet potatos for my son, if they're baked then mashed, they're thick. Also banana?

We gave soft finger foods from a pretty early age. I would try that! Or what about chunkier foods like cut up blueberries, sweet potato chunks or raisins in baby oatmeal?

Any issue with getting jarred Stage 3 foods? They have some without dairy and meat I think, though not a ton.

That being said, what I loved about pouches is what I still do - the convenience! We still give our daughter Stage 1 and Stage 2 pouches as snacks and she loves them.

I puréed whatever we were eating into a chunky consistency or give him whatever we are eating if it's small enough he can chew. For example, I pureed rice and beef stew with a little formula for dinner. Last Night, we went out and ate Mexican so he got beans and rice and some guacamole. Maybe do the same kind of thing but with foods he can eat.

Well we didn't follow a normal progression since we started with BLW and then sort of progressed backward with oatmeal and purees and now we offer everything. But I'd think if he's doing a great job chewing/swallowing very thick puree it is time to move to soft finger foods? LO's most favorite thing is pear. She used to like bananas a lot but she's sort of been over those lately. She also used to like avocado until she became allergic to it. And I just started giving her scrambled eggs (no allergy, whew), which she is still sort of trying to figure out lol. Oh also, she really likes puffs (although they have soy lecithin in them) and veggie/fruit melts and these veggie/fruit cracker things I found at target in the baby aisle.

We did make a lot. But have you tried coconut yogurt? Or jarred baby food (seems to be more meal like than the pouches.)

How old is your LO?

I've been emptying LO's pouches into a bowl and thickening the heck out of them with oatmeal cereal, but it's just not thick enough anymore. Plus he's consuming a ton of oatmeal at this point! What did you do after stage 2 pouches? There aren't many stage 3 options and they all seem to have dairy (allergic) or meat. Did you just make your own food?
