Sit back, watch excessive amounts of tv, and order DH to bring you food. Then cry because your nipples hurt.

I just nursed like crazy (all day long) and watched A LOT of netflix. I think I watched like 3 whole series when she was a newborn (One Tree Hill, Dawson's Creek, and Upstairs Downstairs).

@redsmarties:@mrsjazz: ok, thank you. I'm feeling a little better about this. I guess I didn't understand the extent of cluster feeding.

@London Mama: yes to my bum hurting from just sitting. I'm such and active person, I'm not used to being so sedentary!

@blackbird: @MrsKoala: I thought we weren't supposed to use a paci until four weeks, but the ped gave the ok today, so I guess I have to research a bit.

@matador84:@ScarletBegonia: we had our first checkup today and the ped didn't seem concerned about the non-poop or the stinkiness. I was kind of surprised, but she just said it was a good sign that things were happening in there despite not a lot of input yet.
@Beyond2: @NovBaby1112: @Greentea: @JessKas: @lovehoneybee: thanks. I think I was most concerned with the not sleeping away from me, but I guess that just is part of it. Besides if my milks not fully in yet, I guess he really does just feel hungry whenever he's awake and wants to come back.

@Rockies11: thats not a bad idea…. maybe I can figure that out. If I can put him down long enough!

@Mrsjets: @lamariniere: @Pirouette: @Revel: @Zbug: @Danizaur: Thanks for the encouragement. It helps.

@winniebee: I think its starting to come in today. I could express a few drops and it was coming easier yesterday. I have seen some milky mustaches after some feedings (so cute!)

We introduced a paci after 4 days because of this. I had only had six hours of sleep in 4 days and I could not keep nursing. So we asked the pediatrician at his checkup and she gave us the go ahead to give him a pacifier.

Same thing here! She ate 24/7 til she was about 3 weeks. Eventually I got sick of lying around so I got a sling she could nurse in, strapped her to the boob, and started to move around again! She's still a nursing fiend at 8 months.

I felt like a pacifier the first few weeks! Round the clock cluster feeding...and we ended up co-bedding because it was the only way I could comfortably get any sleep and he could still nurse.

We spent so much time nursing in the beginning. I remember getting a ten minute shower was hard because LO wanted to nurse. I'd suggest finishing a tv series with lots of seasons and just hunkering down.

ahhh cluster feeding. I remember being so overwhelmed and wondering why my baby needed to be attached to my boob all day and nurse what seemed like every 30 minutes. I never heard anything about this before having LO, but all the LC's I spoke to said it is very common and they are helping to establish your milk supply- and it worked, my supply was great, I always had more than enough milk for LO until she weaned. I just got comfortable on the couch, got some snacks, and binged watched TV shows.

We just kept nursing. It was exhausting, my nipples were raw and I was in tears with every feed but somehow I pushed through and it's just a distant memory now, 18 months later. Hang in there! On the plus side this will help develop a really good milk supply!

As I said in the march 2014 post, very nearly the same thing happened to me. For me it only lasted about 12-14 hours, but it was intense! It could be that it's lasting longer for you because it's taking a bit longer for your milk to come in - I'm sure once it does your babe will get a big feed & be content!
One thing that is a bit different as well is stinky gas - my boy never had gas that smelled during the feeding frenzy - he did fart A LOT but I never noticed a smell. I'm just wondering what could cause a stinky fart if all he's having is colostrum?

I agree, it sounds perfectly normal. You LO needs your constant comfort, the last thing he wants is probably to be put down in a cold, lonely bed. He's spent 9 months inside you so he still needs that closeness. It's exhausting and so stressful when you can't even go to the bathroom but it does get better!

Also, the constant feeding may be necessary to get your milk production up to speed. Hang in there mama, make sure you have everything within reach of the sofa and get your DH to bring you food, snacks, drinks. I remember always having my dinner with LO stuck to my boob and my bum hurting from being stuck on the sofa for hours and hours on end. Now those memories make me smile!

Sounds like cluster feeding to me.
I'm so sorry- it is SUCH a rough time. But he is probably nursing constantly to build up your milk supply to meet his needs. My LO nursed just about constantly from day 2 or 3 to day 5...it's just a phase, and you can get through it! I promise it won't be like this forever!

So granted J is only going into his 4th day, but for the last 30+ hours he has refused to be anywhere but at my breast. He will fall asleep there and pop off but as soon as he wakes and realizes he's no longer feeding/comfort nursing he goes into a rage. He has slept only on me. No going to someone else or be put down anywhere.

DH has been able to calm him and finally get him back to sleep by sucking his finger but if he tries to put him in the RnP he is back to square one immediately. Zero awake/alert time when he is not screaming, licking his lips and rooting around.

I feel like I should add that he passed 4 diapers of his meconium at the hospital the first day and no poopy diapers since. Wet yes. Very stinky gas, yes. Not sure if it's related.

Anyone else have this? I'm trying to gauge if this is a passing/few day thing or long term where he is refusing anyone else.
