I had a prenatal massage, which was WONDERFUL. We also had sex before bed. My contractions started after sex and felt different that the many BH contractions I had experienced. Sure enough, I woke up a few hours later with no doubt I was in labor! LO was born 12 hours after that first contraction.

I had so many plans.... Dinners out. A massage & adjustment, a facial. I had an emergency induction 5 days before my scheduled induction- so I had to cancel everything from my hospital bed.

I had an unplanned sudden induction at 37 weeks so I had no idea it was our last night! It was during March madness so we had friends over to watch basketball most of the day, and then played a raucous game of cards against humanity. It was a really fun night! Towards the end I was beyond tired though!

My husband was nominated for an award and the gala was 4 days past my due date. I never dreamed i would be able to go but when I was still pregnant, I spent the day scrambling to try to find something "black tie optional" in my closet that would still fit. I had been having cramping that came in waves earlier that day so I figured labor was imminent. I found something to squeeze into and we went to the ceremony. When we got home at midnight we had sex and labor started about an hour later! :)

My husband and I were binge watching Breaking Bad when my water broke at 10pm. It was just a trickle so we had no idea what would happen next. We finished the episode and tried to get some sleep around midnight. The first contraction hit hard at 2am and we got to the hospital around 9am.

Don't know what I did the night before since I went into labor in the evening, but I know what I did that day. I went to the doctor that morning and had a check and a sweep. I was totally depressed because I was still only barely 1cm. I called my mom and she came in to town (she lives about 40 minutes away) to have lunch with me. We ate crepes and walked around some shops. Then I went grocery shopping and came home and made dinner. While grocery shopping I had a big contraction. I had a couple more during dinner. Wasn't convinced as I'd had false labor several times. We watched Life of Pi and then started timing my contractions at 10pm.

With my first, I was up all night with a backache. I'd thrown out my back laughing (note: do not watch funny movies lying on your side while nine months pregnant!) The next night I was already in labor so I was up all night again reading Terry Pratchett to take my mind off things. I was a zombie when it was time to go to the hospital :bummed:

With my second I felt just fine the night before, so we ate dinner as usual, went to the beach, and slept most of the night. When I woke up I knew it's time, so I started tanking up on breakfast and hot tea because they don't let you eat at the hospital.

I can't remember what we did the night before (knowing us probably ate dinner at home and watched a movie). I do know the afternoon before we met up with friends for lunch and I had a lobster roll, at the place my friend had had a lobster roll the day before she went into labor a few weeks before. So we are both convinced these lobster rolls put us into labor (never mind that we were both full term).

Woke up at 6:30 the next morning with my first mild contractions.

With my first, I went for a 2 mile walk the night before and then ate spicy fish tacos! And Cherry Garcia ice cream haha.

With my third, I had a membrane sweep then went home, ate lunch and DTD - then I was instantly in labor after that.

Oh and I was induced with my second.

I cleaned and we had dinner with friends. The day before baby was born we went and at shiva with friends and my irregular contractions became regular and steady. The hour long drive home to get my bag and wait until I was further along to go to the hospital was brutal as the majority of the roads home were unpaved and very bumpy.

I flew back from Vegas the day before! We were at my husband's company's annual trip that weekend. So glad I didn't go into labor there! Well, I may have been in early labor (what I assumed were BH's were getting more uncomfortable), but I didn't know it. When we got home I mostly just relaxed because I feel like crap. I took a bath to help with the rather painful "BH's," which didn't help. Definitely didn't do anything special!

It was a Sunday. We ran errands and had lunch with friends and then dinner with the in-laws. All day long DH was joking that I needed to go into labor so he could get out of a work commitment that week. Guess who went into labor early Monday morning? His boss almost didn't believe it :)

I made chocolate chip cookies! It was the night before my due date, and I remember posting the picture on instagram with the hashtag: #nopenotyet. The next morning when my water started leaking and I was officially admitted into the hospital, my hashtag changed to: #yepitstime! My parents, who stayed at our house to take care of our dogs, enjoyed the chocolate chip cookies I'd made! :silly:

We went for a massive walk (I'd been trying all week to go into labor) then sat on the couch all evening because my feet hurt so much. This was on my due date by the way. Went to bed with dh and said "knowing my luck baby will decide to come tonight when I'm so exhausted and sore". Woke up at 12.20am with contractions 5 mins apart and dd was born at 4.43am

My last day of work was Friday at 40w2d. The Saturday that labor started we had been walking around an outdoor mall, had lunch, then I cleaned up the house a bit. My in laws drove into town that evening and right after they got in my contractions started and were regular. We went to the hospital and were sent home early Sunday morning. We were back at the hospital by early afternoon and I had him Sunday evening.

We had a really nice last day as a family of three. We went and got haircuts, hung around and had a snack, and then came home to my parents, who had just come into town. Then we made a nice big dinner while my contractions got stronger, and I went to the hospital around midnight.

Worst part of it was that I was already laboring and didn't feel like dinner - so that afternoon snack (truffle fries!) was all I had to get me through my labor. I delivered at 7 am the next morning.

I feel like I fit more in this thread since I had a sudden, unplanned induction (went in to my 37 week appointment and was sent to L&D with severe pre-e) so I couldn't plan a final meal, date night, etc.

The day before, we went to our tennis club's Memorial Day pool party and I was rocking some pool volleyball for a large chunk of the afternoon!

This is a spin-off of BeachMama's thread re: inductions. Just wondering what everyone did the night/day before they went into labour on their own. Unlike most inductions, you never really know when it's going to start, so it's hard to plan a last special meal or walk/visit, etc.

I went into labour in the early morning hours of Easter Sunday, and delivered my son that afternoon. My parents were visiting in anticipation of the birth, and it's tradition in our family to have a big meal for the midday meal on Sundays, but especially so for Easter Sunday. I'd suggested to my mom to cook the meal on Saturday evening instead, just in case. I was already 3 days past my due date at that point, so it wasn't out of the realm of possibility. It was delicious, but to this day, my mom thinks it was her home cooking that induced labour and not our decision to DTD as a last ditch effort to get labour started.

What were your last hours pre-baby like? Bonus points for multiple pre-labour stories.

ETA: Sudden, unplanned pre-induction stories are also welcome here! The intent of the thread is to highlight how the last day/night compares when you don't realize it's your last before baby arrives.
