I nursed all. the. time-- C was and is a boob monster. She was also a big comfort nurser which I think probably helped (similar to pumping after nursing, right?) I drank tons of water, and eat a lot, especially fat and protein. I also drank Mother's Milk tea sometimes, though I'm not sure how much it helped, and had a Guinness now and then, and had oatmeal for breakfast. I never had actual supply issues, but I did those things in the beginning while I was establishing my supply.

I agree that in your situation seeing a LC would be good. Good luck-- I hope LO's numbers are looking good today!

Pretty much everything that @hilsy85 said - nurse and then pump; drink tons of water, mothers milk tea, eat and sleep as much as you can

I tried More Milk Plus, drinking tons of water, pumping between 1-3am. Not much really raised my supply significantly. If I still have issues with #2 I want to try domperidone.

I wouldn't rush into taking suppliments until you see an IBCLC - they can lead to other problems like oversupplyh which sounds like a good thing but can be just as hard to deal with as an undersupply.

I'd second the rec to see an IBCLC if possible. Over the eight months I've nursed I've used More Milk Plus and milkmaid tea with some results. In the very early days I just tried to nurse as much as possible and get a lot of fluids. Eating a lot of protein also usually helps my supply.

Can you meet with an IBCLC? If it's available to you as an option please take it...it can seriously be life changing!

Is it possible to use an SNS system so that while LO drinks formula she's also stimulating your production? Has she lost a significant amount of weight? Is she hypoglycaemic? If not, I would be super hesitant to supplement, but I don't know your specific situation. Hopefully between an IBCLC and your doctors you can find a good solution :)

Nurse a lot, pump after feedings, take More Milk Plus or Fenugreek, and EAT.

I mean it, eat a lot. Overeat. I have been eating like a cow. Literally I tracked what I ate one day on My Fitness Pal just because I was curious why I wasn't losing weight from breastfeeding (or in my case, pumping) and I ate 3,700 calories in a day!! True story. And I didn't eat more that day than I normally eat.

HOWEVER, I've always had a great supply and I used to be producing 45-47 oz a day just from eating a lot.

I got sick a couple of weeks ago with a cold that turned into a sinus infection and THEN got the stomach flu on top of all that and for a week or two I was eating a "normal" amount---and I've lost 8 lbs in 2 weeks and my supply has tanked. I'm still eating, just not massive amounts and I'm surprised at how much that has affected my supply.

So...eat. Lots.

Yep, nurse as often as you can, skin to skin, pump after feedings...

I upped my water intake, started eating oatmeal and lactation cookies, take Fenugreek, and (usually as a last ditch effort) take Domperidone.

I wouldn't worry about supply too much unless it becomes obvious that you have to!

I agree with Hilsy85, nurse, nurse, nurse! Remember that pumping output is not a good indicator of milk supply. Those things and relax, have confidence that your body knows what it is doing and what the baby needs. Bookmark the KellyMom website and if you have any doubts go see an IBCLC who are worth their weight in gold!

I would put her to the breast as much as you can, pump after feedings as much as possible, and make sure you are taking care of yourself! Staying hydrated, eating enough, getting some sleep. Hope your LOs numbers are great!

Hopefully LOs numbers look good today and the Dr will let us stop supplementing with formula. (I didn't know I wanted to BF so badly as when the hospital told me I shouldn't because it was taking to much of LOs energy). She is drinking a lot of formula and I'm terribly afraid that I just won't have enough milk to satisfy her belly now.

What did you do to increase your supply? I've been pumping but am not getting much.
