@travelgirl1: DH says S had her leg up like she wanted to try to climb out this morning when he went in to get her...but she can't - she's too short. Hope some of these suggestions work for you :)

@californiadreams: I kinda want to see it too!

@travelgirl1: our 12 month old is on a floor bed and he does great. Even if he gets up and plays in the MOTN, it's no big deal, his room is baby proofed and there's a gate so he can't escape.

@lindseykaye: R started on a cot at 12 months at day care and does great with it. But I am sure it helps that all the other kids are on it too.

I would try the mattress on the floor inside the crib.

OR, if your crib is higher in the back (the side that is usually against a wall), you could try turning the crib 180 so that the high end is facing outward.

@Smurfette: She's at our nanny's house, so we provided a PnP and the other moms with the other kid her age, and the one who is younger. I should ask the mom of the 3-yr old what he does.
I suppose I could also get a cot for her but I worry she will wiggle off :)

I am reading to hear everyone's great suggestions because we had a climber too. What has worked for us so far is to put her sleep sack on inside out. That way she can't teach the zipper pull! I love the idea of moving her mattress all the way to the floor, but then I don't know what she'll do for naps at daycare. Probably give a floor mat a try I guess?!

@travelgirl1: I meant take out the crib springs and just put the mattress on the floor inside the crib. All depends on what kind of crib you have. Like this crib, I would think the mattress directly on the floor would be lower they couldn't climb out but she couldn't crawl out of. Make sense?

My son's been able to climb out of both for months, but we still keep him in them because he's a wild sleeper. We just constantly yell down the hall to "get down" when we catch him on the monitor. Or if he does get out, we just walk him back in. He doesn't try it all that often any more, because he knows he isn't supposed to do it. And he was never swaddled or in a sleep sack, so that was never a solution for us. We just took it as an opportunity to discipline him, I guess.

@swurlygurl: I know, right? You would never believe this girl was once stuck in a harness for four months. To think I was actually worried she'd be a late walker!!! No, the mattress is ay its lowest setting. She also climbed out of her highchair today (straps were fairly tight) and stood on the tray. She's going to climb Everest one day, lol.

Already at 17 months?! That seems so early!! Quite the climber you have...

I'm not much help because we just moved L onto a floor bed at 15 months. She's doing surprisingly well at staying the bed for nap/bedtime.

Obvious question though, can you lower the crib mattress at all?

My 17 month old is like Spiderman and can climb out of both her p&p (nap) and crib (night). At first putting a sleepsack on her solved the problem but sometimes she can get the sleepsack off and the other morning I woke up to her straddling the bars. So I think I need to get a safer arrangement for her but what? She'd jump out of a toddler bed or floor bed without batting an eyelid and I worry about her getting out of bed and wandering around the apartment in the night, but don't really want to put a safety gate across the door for safety reasons. Aggghhh. What would you do?
