My older son was 2.5 when my younger son was born.
We got very little. I got a new breast pump since it was free through insurance anyhow. We didn't get any new stroller gear since our older son walks everywhere anyhow. We bough a new dresser and bed for the older one, and gave the old changing table/dresser and crib to the little one. We had to buy some new clothes since my older son was born in April (and thus we had no warm clothes in small sizes) and my younger was born in October (needed mainly warm clothes in small sizes). Ended up having to buy all new pacifiers since the baby doesn't like the same kind that the toddler did!
We used our old infant carseat, and we already had a swing, bouncer, exersaucer, etc. so we just got those out of the basement and cleaned them off.

We aren't pregnant yet, but about to start actively TTC #2.

Since I'm completely obsessive, I'm starting to wonder what we should be saving for as far as gear for #2. All I can think of so far is the Rumbleseat for our Vista (to make it a 2 seater) and a crib (since DS is only 14m and his crib converts to toddler bed).

What else did you need?
