We transitioned to a sleep sack around 5-6 months. I will admit that at 34 months, DD is still rocking her sleepsack. She loves it and it keeps her from climbing out of the crib. We will retire it in August when she moves to a big girl bed.

Nothing. Breaking him of the swaddle was stressful and exhausting. Didn't want to have to wean him from something else.

@winter_wonder: It was around 3 months (he started rolling then.) He was still sleeping in the rock n play at that point - we did two more weeks unswaddled in the rock n play, then transitioned to the crib without swaddle/sleep sack at 3.5 months. (I wanted to get him used to sleeping in the crib before I went back to work at 4 mo.)

After an arms down swaddle (which we only did for a few weeks), we went to the Love to Dream Love swaddlepod thing that lets the arms go up. After that, we switched to sleep sacks.

@pachamama: I was a little concerned about that, too. I had read that allowing them more freedom in the crib would get them rolling over faster.

In the end, her being able to sleep took precedence over any of it. We were doing everything else right - lots of tummy and floor time, limited time in swings, bouncers, etc. So I kept swaddling her to sleep and it all worked out fine. Eventually she figured out how to roll over during her waking hours. Then to sit, then to crawl, then to pull up, then to walk ... So no regrets here!

@magnoliamama42: Do you think having them tightly swaddled delays rolling over? I've heard the Back to Sleep campaign has made rolling more of a 5 or 6 month milestone. Not a big deal, they just don't develop upper body as much. My guy is 5 months and was swaddled for a long time and is not rolling.

We did the Halo til 4.5 months (I know...) and now my 5 month old is in the ZipadeeZip and it's going great! Infact, when he's in a good, sleepy mood, we don't even use it and he sleeps with just a onesie on!

We tried to transition out of the swaddle at 4 months. It was too soon for her, and we pushed it off for another 3-4 weeks. (She didn't start *really* rolling until 5 months.)

Then we tried again with the Zipadeezip and it's worked great.

She's 14m now and still uses the Zipadeezip for naps at daycare, since they aren't allowed blankets in their cribs and the a/c keeps the place pretty cool.

Around 12 months, she started self-soothing by running her fingers through the silky part of her blanket, so that necessitated we stop using the Zipadeezip at night. The weather also got warmer right around that time, so it worked out.

@ValentineMommy: same here- it sounds completely ridiculous but we did blanket swaddle, Velcro swaddle, woombie, Merlin's sleep suit, then sleep sack. Anything for a few nights of good sleep!

With my second we went from miracle blanket swaddle to Merlin's sleep suit around 4 months. She is 6 months now and our ped just suggested dropping it so she can roll on her tummy to sleep if she wants.
