I took 8 weeks of state disability, 6 weeks of state family bonding and 4 weeks of PTO (all of our sick/vacation leave is rolled into PTO, so that's our only option). For the next baby I probably will have to dip into my catastrophic leave too since I likely won't have enough PTO.

Um, by resigning?? Not really but when the STD and my PTO runs out I'm just taking the rest unpaid. I figured out how it would be with my company as soon as I started working here and planned accordingly so we could be set to handle the unpaid weeks.

I had no paid leave, just had to use my sick days and take the rest unpaid. I did have short-term disability so it covered a little bit. There was no option to extend other than quitting. However a week after I returned was summer break (teacher)so essentially, timing extended it for me.

We don't get paid leave so I have to use my pto for maternity leave. With FMLA and State leave I could go unpaid for up to 16 but we can't afford that. Luckily I'm salaried and will likely work part time for a couple weeks after that so it will help a bit.

12 weeks paid maternity leave separate and apart from FMLA and STD although they all ran concurrently. STD paid me and then my company paid the difference for the full 12 weeks of maternity leave since I qualify for 100% paid STD. After 12 weeks paid maternity leave, I took 1 week unpaid leave through FMLA, and then 1 week paid vacation time for a total of 14 weeks off.

FWIW, my LO was born early June and I came back to work mid September. I used paid sick days prior to my leave + intermittent FMLA so I wouldn't have to touch my vacation days. That left me with an additional 3 weeks of vacation days to use for the remainder of the year just in case + I can roll over up to 10 unused vacation days which was my goal.

I'm offered 12 weeks unpaid through FMLA, this is what i'm taking, I can't extend it (we have to use all PTO in conjunction with FMLA.) When I return I will have no paid time off available until I renew on my anniversary date.

I had 6 weeks STD, 1 week PTO for the year LO was born, 1.5 weeks unpaid, 1.5 weeks holiday (Christmas and NY), then 3 weeks PTO for the next year. Then I decided to not go back to that company because I realized how absolutely miserable I was in my job, so I took another 5 months.

I had 12 weeks unpaid under FMLA and added on 2 more weeks using PTO (ours is basically sick + vacation combined). So I arranged for 14 weeks total: 2 weeks paid, 6 weeks STD (60% salary), and 6 weeks unpaid.

FMLA runs concurrently with any program the company offers like STD and PTO. Since we can't roll over more than 144 hours each year, everyone always runs out of paid leave before FMLA is up so we can't really extend it beyond that.

didn't really have the option to extend my leave beyond the 12 weeks under FMLA (I took 2 before LO was born and 13 after, and that was def frowned on, sigh). I extended the *paid* length of my leave beyond the 6 week paid by STD by using all of my saved PTO - 4 weeks. I didn't have separate "sick time" - everything was one bank of time (PTO).

I voted wrong.

My company offers an 8-week unpaid maternity leave, with the option to extend it for an additional 4 weeks at the discretion of the director. I asked for and received 12 weeks. I was not allowed to use my sick/vacation/comp time to extend my leave; it had to run concurrently. I stretched out the paid portions so that 2/3 of my leave was paid at 50% of my normal paycheck. The rest was completely unpaid.

I had no paid leave, since i was not eligible for STD at my company due to a pre-existing condition. I was required to use all of my accrued vacation and sick time while gone on family medical leave. I had enough leave saved up to take off 8 weeks, I returned to work after that was gone.
