I wore a black maternity T for #1 and a black long sleeve T with a cardigan over it for #2. You just had a baby, you're going to walk out of the hospital looking several months pregnant still. You're only setting yourself up for disappointment if you want to look "skinny." Everyone will be focusing on the baby in the pics anyway.

Our photographer asked us to wear black, simple shirts so I wore a black tanktop and dark jeans. Our photos were waist up.

I wore a dress that I regretted. It looked nice in the photos at least, but it was NOT good for nursing. My son was basically crying constantly during the photos (like bad enough that the photographer gave us a discount because we couldn't do as much as we'd planned) and having something that was easier to nurse in would have been so much better. We ended up getting a few photos that I'm very happy with, but it was stressful. So basically, don't make my mistake if you plan to breastfeed ;-)

Maternity jeans and a sweater that wasn't maternity but that was cut loosely. Our photos were at home so I think a dress would have looked overly formal.

I wore a black (maternity) t-shirt and a black skirt. It basically looked like I was in a black t shirt dress.

I wore a white maternity tank (not a nursing tank, ugh to the clips!) and maternity jeans. But my belly was well hidden in all the shots and I feel like I looked so pretty.

My photographer had told DH and I to both wear black shirts. We wore with jeans, which didn't matter b/c shots were waist up.

A white gap vneck maternity t shirt and black leggings. Our photographer told us to dress plain and comfortable since there weren't going to be any full length shots of adults and you don't want anything distracting from the baby.

I wore a black wrap maternity dress. Only one family shot where you can see my body, the rest were pretty close up and upper body.

i wore dark maternity jeans and a sweater that I KNEW was a complementary color for my face (its a pinky coral from Jcrew. I get a bazillion complements whenever I wear the color.) I hope the pretty color would distract from el stomacho. Which worked.

If you're planning on studio style shots, bring solid black and solid white tops. I wore plain fitted tees in a size up so they were more forgiving with maternity jeans(I think...like @snowjewelz: there are no full body shots of the grown ups).

No shots that were waist and down for me... I wore a simple loose ish solid color shirt to keep it clean and simple and to let DD shine.

I wore maternity jeans and a drapy top- it was pretty plain but had an interesting neck. I figured any pictures with me the baby would be mostly covering my outfit anyway. It was fine. The photographer did recommend plain- no big patterns, pockets, or anything, so wouldn't distract from the baby.

Unfortunately the shirt did hide how puffy my face still was but that's ok.

I'm feeling huge this pregnancy (still have 4 weeks to go) and we just booked our newborn session for a week after my due date. I realized I am going to have to wear something and I am not sure that any of my maternity dresses will cut it. Ideas for what to look for or outfits that make you feel skinny when you are postpartum???
