@shopaholic: my girl wore NB til 5/6 weeks and at 8 weeks is still in some NB pants, and 0-3/3 month tops. She's a stout shorty lol. She was 7lb10 at birth, 9 lb/20 inch at 1 month and her 2-mth appt is wed but I think she's ~13 lbs.

@mrs. wagon: totally agree with the newborn sizes (especially the 'up to 7lbs' size at BabyGap, it was perfect for DS and he was pretty big!)
I get that everyone says don't buy them because they want to make the clothing last longer, but if I had done that DS would have been swimming in his wardrobe for the first few months.

We're going to bring the baby home in a footed sleeper and hat. Nothing too exciting or special. I'm not real sentimental about that kind of thing, so it'll just be regular clothes that he'll wear over and over.

I wish we had bought smaller clothes! I took some 0-3 and one newborn outfit with us to the hospital. She was swimming in everything. This is her coming home outfit - sleeper and matching hat. :) We had her wrapped in blankets most of the time so it didn't matter what she was wearing, anyways (it was June and hot out and we still bundled her up like crazy).

@shopaholic: hehe thanks! and YES to newborn sizes please. Wagon Jr. wore newborn sizes until he was 3 months old. And he was born 8 lbs 1 oz! I actually sent my MIL out for preemie sized pants because the newborn size was way too big on him.

LMW didn't wear newborn sizes nearly as long (she was also born 8 lbs 1 oz but quickly grew and grew LONGer too) but we still needed at least a few outfits. Especially if people are gonna be seeing the baby.

@rachiecakes: Oh I always see that "up to 7lbs size" at Baby Gap on sale and think I would never even be able to use it! Might have to get 1 or 2 pieces then!

@Mrs. Tricycle: This is my fear too! lol! My family keeps telling me not to even buy stuff in 0-3 months sizes because baby will wear something 1x before outgrowing it! This weekend, I finally had to tell them "well, baby STILL has to wear something right?!" At least I think I will enjoy online shopping while in the hospital. lol!

These were my kids' outfits (I don't have a good picture of LMW in hers). I hate when babies are swimming in clothes that are too big for them, so I bought newborn sizes for both. We were team green for Wagon Jr. so he's in yellow/green, and with LMW we were obviously team pink :)

I brought a few choices and since we were there for 5 days I did use a couple of them!
His "coming home" outfit was a striped BabyGap one piece footed get up. I was surprised that even though he was 8lbs 2oz & 21.5", the "up to 7lbs" size was perfect on him where everything else was waaay too big.
