He wears those kimono side snap tees and a diaper most of the time! Also the Carter's newborn creepers. To sleep he wears the kimono tees and a SwaddleMe wrap.

SO thankful for this post! I have absolutely NO newborn sized clothes yet (people are being thoughtful and buying bigger sizes), so I'll have to shop soon. Good to have all this input!

She was born in July in Florida. She wore onesies. At night we swaddled her and she wore just a diaper under the swaddle. If we thought it was chilly in the house we would just put a blanket on her, but that was rare. LO was 8 lbs 13 oz so she was only in nb clothes a couple of weeks.

I'm due in August as well so this is really interesting. For you people who Don't have AC though, what did you use? It gets sometimes 25-28 degrees in our house even at night so I'm almost assuming ours will just be in a diaper and t-shirt. But could be wrong??

She was born July 18. She wore onesies or the little side snap t-shirts for the first few weeks with a swaddling blanket most of the time. At night, she was in a t-shirt and her Woombie. We had a couple of little outfits (dress/shirt and diaper cover) for when we went somewhere that she wore. She grew out of newborn pretty quickly.

@skipper2010: Yeah-- it's hard to know when the outside temp will be so hot but inside it won't! Luckily lots of mamas have already done this!

LO is 4 weeks now...we have been dressing her in Carter's newborn creepers. They snap up and are easy on and off even when her cord was still on. At night she wears a long sleeve onesie or kimono shirt and a swaddleme wrap.

LO was born the last week of June. Even though it was hot hot hot outside it was cool inside due to AC so we kept her in snap up sleepers the first 2-3 weeks. After that she outgrew the newborn stuff and we moved to more outfits.

Early August baby, wore a lot of short-sleeved onesies and light cotton pants. He grew out of newborn in a week or two (and 0-3 month loosely fit from the start). At night he usually just wore a diaper underneath a long-sleeved fleece sleep sack (he refused to be swaddled and we were co-bedding, so I wasn't worried about him being warm enough.)

My LO was a mid-June baby so he wore lots of onesies. If we were inside in AC or doing errands in stores with AC, I would keep him covered with an A&A blanket. He didn't start wearing more outfits (onesie/shorts sets) until he was probably 6 weeks or so, that's when he fit more in 0-3 month stuff.

he was born in July so we just kept onsies on him with a light blanket. it was soooo hot out I don't even think we put sleepers on him at night!

@Foodnerd81: Yes! I didn't put her in pants a lot because she pooped so much (and blew out so much). We did put her in a lot of onesie/pant combos those first 3 months. Definitely keep the tags on the newborn stuff but I bet you'll need at least three newborn outfits.

@T.H.O.U.: @mediagirl: Thanks! So, yes to pants, even though it's really hot out then (or swaddles or whatever).

I'm thinking I will buy two or three NB sleepers but not wash them so I can return them if the baby grows out of them too quick (I already have 2 that are washed and ready to go).

She lost and didn't gain weight for a while so she was in NB for her first 3 months or so. We kept her in onesies or sleepers that first month. If she was in a onesie, she was wrapped in a blanket if she seemed "cold" in the a/c. I don't think we took her outside other than for doctor's appointments that first month. If we took her to the doctor, she was in a onesie or short outfit and I would wrap her in a blanket at the office (always cold).

My huge baby only wore NB stuff for like a week, but she could fit into loose 0-3 month stuff.

She was an August baby, but like you said, she was in the A/C so we still kept her covered (onsie and pants, or a sleeper with a light muslin on her) for quite a while.

If you had your baby in the summer, what did you dress him or her in for the first few weeks? I feel like I have a decent amount of 0-3 stuff, including onesies and footed pjs, but I'm not sure about those first few weeks. Baby is due at the end of July, so it will be hot and humid outside, but we have A/C that I'm sure we will be inside of most of the time. Add in concerns about the umbilical stump and pulling things over a teeny wobbly head and I just don't know what to expect!

Also, I don't have any estimates of how big the baby is yet, but my family tends to have babies that grow fast-- like only in NB clothes for a few weeks. I know that doesn't mean my baby will do the same, but that's all I really have to go on! So i'm thinking I want enough NB stuff to get through 2-3 weeks and go from there...
