I donated 1,110 oz when DS was 6 months to a women who adapted and I'm currently rebuilding my stash.

My original intent was to pump enough to feed DS exclusively after we wean so he got BM as long as possible, but because of food allergy issues I had to give my stash up. It was very sad and I almost cried. I'm not sure what we are going to do with the stash I am rebuilding...I'd like to feed it to him, but some of it was expressed while discovering new allergies, so we will most likely be donating again.

I was super diligent about pumping from the very beginning, and I was way overproducing for a while and when I first went back to work I could pump about twice what LO would eat in a day. Then, when he was about 3.5 months old, I forgot my pump one day and had to go without the entire work day, and then I went out of town the next day and forgot the pump then too (I had LO with me out of town, so I was still nursing, but couldn't pump). So I went three days without pumping, one of which included about an 11-hour stretch of no nursing too. I tried to get my supply back up, but from then on I could barely pump what LO ate in a day, and it kind of gradually decreased from there... by about 5-6 months I could only pump about 1/3 of what he would eat in a day. So that's when I really dug into my freezer stash, and he'd get 1/3 fresh, 2/3 frozen for weeks and weeks.

i regularly cycle through it so it doesn't get too old, and so that she's getting more recent milk since it changes in consistency as your baby gets older.

i hope to use it all and if i have a stash when i wean, hope to give olive breastmilk in a bottle as long as the stash lasts.

@Lozza: When did your supply tank? Did you figure out why? My friend couldn't figure out why she stopped producing, and I don't think she had much frozen.

I was really grateful for my freezer stash (which was probably over 300 oz at its peak) once my supply tanked. We were able to keep DS exclusively breastmilk-fed for probably a whole extra 4-6 weeks once my pumping output dropped off than would have otherwise been possible.

I shared with the gay couple across the street who adopted. Towards the end we gave to the milk bank and there was a sad little amount that I had to throw away. *Sniff*

What did or will you do with your stash? I've been able to freeze 24-30 oz a week so far, which is awesome. It is so satisfying to open the freezer and see ALL THAT MILK just sitting there. (Don't know why!) My sister has some that she is planning to donate - and she already donated some to me when DS was born and I had supply issues. A friend had her supply dry up when her baby was 9 mos old, so that's always in the back of my mind. Just curious what anyone ended up doing with theirs, or if you have plans for it?
