Mine feel like nudges. If I press on my belly a little, I can feel the baby sort of nudge on past where I am pushing, like she is floating by. I've also felt a few straight up kicks to where I am pressing. Otherwise, it is just lots and lots of flutters and random taps, all over. Or I can feel her whole body move under my flat hand. Just felt one now actually! I'm 22 weeks today.

Thanks everyone for the quick replies.
I am so stressed out with this pregnancy. I'm an only child, and my friends are either male or are child-free. I have NO idea what feelings are normal and what aren't and don't really have anyone to talk to about it. Both my mom and Alex know that I'm a hypochondriac and tell me not to worry....but it's so hard not to when I don't know what's going on with my body.

I can't believe I've made it this far, but can't believe that I still have 20 weeks to go.

Any little twinge feels strange to me and I have no idea what is normal and whats not. I just keep drinking my water and praying that everything is going okay in there. :(

Now they really feel like kicks...they don't hurt though. Initially, they felt like little bubbles popping, and that graduated to little "nudges". From the outside, it often looks like muscle spasms if he's kicking gently in one place over and over. But when he gives a big kick, you can see the skin stretch out and then move back. I'm 26w.

@JessLC: They definitely look like muscle twitches from the outside too! The other night DH and I were out somewhere and the baby decided to have a huge kick fest and my belly was moving all over the place. I was kind of self conscious about it. I didn’t want someone to just happen to glance over and be completely freaked out by my pulsating stomach LOL.

Yes those sound like kicks. I would say they feel like muscle twitches at first and the bigger ones feel like big gas bubbles but without the pain and the gas. Haha. By the time you start seeing your belly move, they definitely look like muscle twitches from the outside too! I am 25 weeks, as a reference point.

I also would describe the first kicks I felt as similar to muscle spasms. I was also worried that something must be wrong, but actually it was just the baby wiggling away!

"real kicks" will feel like you are literally being kicked from the inside. By the time I hit the 3rd tri LO's kicks were really strong, and you could see it from across the room. But the flutters you are feeling now are probably real kicks too, its just that since the baby is small now the kicks arent as forceful because she/he has more room to move around.

Yup a lot of my kicks still feel like that too (I'm 22 weeks). Every now and then if I'm lying down and focused I'll feel a good jab. But otherwise, the movements are a lot more subtle than I expected them to be. My baby likes to flip flop so sometimes the feelings are up high by my belly button and then other times super low by my cervix.

@travelingbrit: That’s how a lot of my kicks still feel. They aren’t what I expected either. Some of them are really strong but the sensation is the same as what you’re describing. I’m 27 weeks and my baby is also transverse!

I'm starting to feel strong kicks/punches now at 29 week, enough to make my shirt/dress move and enough for DH to see from across the couch. I consider these "real kicks" started around 25 weeks maybe? Otherwise I just considered everything else her rolling/flip floping as she didn't have enough power to really kick with her legs.

For the past 2-3 days I've been feeling weird sensations in my abdomen. It's hard to describe, but it feels similar to a muscle spasm. They aren't severely painful, just unusual and unexpected with a twinge of ouch.
It almost feels like pressure from inside but not necessarily what I expect a "kick" to feel like.
I have felt the flutters for a week or two but it's stronger than that and more localized. At my scan on saturday, I was told the baby is transverse and I feel it in various places on my left side, which is where the feet were.

Do you think this is what kicks feel like, or is it something more serious? I always thought I'd know what kicks feel like. I'm 19 1/2 weeks.
