We called it the parasite for a while, until we told people I was pregnant, and my dad DID NOT like that nickname. Now it's one of those two when DH and I are alone, or Baby, The Wee One, Little Sibling (to the dog), or just Fetus. My mom tends to call it by the fruit of the week (currently an heirloom tomato). We gave them fake names that are overly masculine to use with friends, etc. Similar to something a professional wrestler, body builder, or strong man competition participant would use. Our two year old commonly refers to baby brother with the exaggerated fake name when telling strangers and acquaintances.
