Probably less than 12. My induction was 36 hours so anything less than that sounds amazing, lol!

@Rainbow Sprinkles: Hmmm, what is a fast labor? Personally, I feel like 6 hours is my cutoff for being "regular" (>6 hours) vs fast. But that's just my perspective, which might have been different a few months ago.

I think under 12 hours too.

I was 8 hours from first contractions to baby in arms, and people usually comment that that's a pretty quick labour for a first time mom.

I think mine was fast but was in active labor for about 4 hours. Entire labor lasted about 14 from first contraction to baby in my arms. It depends on whether you define it as entire labor or just active labor.

Under 10.

I also get confused about what "active labor" is. When you start having contractions 5 mins apart? When you go to he hospital? I had contractions from 30 weeks on and so even though I delivered T 12 hrs after arriving to hospital it did not feel quick!

6h.
I say 12h is "good" but if we're saying "oh that's fast", then i'd go with 6h and under.
Mine was 8h and I felt like it was just right. I didn't get too tired, but it wasn't like nurses were scrambling around because of how fast it was :silly:

After having a 36 hour labor with my first, I'd say anything that is half that long is "fast." ;)

But probably anything under 8 is truly fast.

If 18 hours is average for a first time delivery, my mind would think 9 hours or less is fast.

My water broke at about 3 a.m. on a Wednesday, LO was born around 11 a.m. Thursday, which sounds like 32 hours, but my contractions didn't start until about 8 p.m. so it felt like ”only” 15 hrs. I don't know how to measure!

I agree under 12 for a first seems pretty quick. I was almost 25 hours from first contraction to baby in arms, but things didn't te really painful for more than twelve hours after first contraction. I didn't feel like I had a long labor since active labor was probably ten hours, and pushin was pretty quick.

I guess it depends on how intense each stage is for the mom. I was in labor (from feeling first contraction to baby) about 20 hours, but active was only 5 or so. The entire thing felt super fast to me!
