When LO was an older 4 month old I felt less like a new mom in the sense that I *just* had a baby. Now, I just feel like a FTM.

@MOMTOLITTLEB: perhaps that's the difference between a new mom and a grandparent.@2littlepumpkins: agreed.@Boogs: I think about how different I'll be next time.@birdofafeather: I like this. I was just working on Ts album from her first birthday and she looks like such a baby 😭

@2littlepumpkins: same, although I would maybe extend to the first year because they (and you!) change so much the first year!

When you typically hear new mom, you think of someone with a little baby. But I mostly stopped feeling like a new mom after I had the second one because I felt more confident in what I knew and my abilities.

Although something is always new especially with the oldest, when I hear "new mom," I tend to think of maybe the first six months with baby #1.

I don't feel like a new mom, it's been almost 3 years and I don't remember what it felt like to not be a mom! However I do feel new compared to most moms because there are so man stages I haven't experienced compared to someone like my mom who has seen it all by now.

I think with your oldest child, you're always a "new" mom. No matter what my experiences have been, it is different viewing it with this lens of parenthood.

I get my best advice from experienced parents, the ones that have been through it before, but they always say the same thing, that they turned to the parents before them for advice!

I think whenever I am with someone who is newer than me, I am not new mom. Most people have older kids than me so I will always be new mom to them. So new mom is relative.

I know, I feel the same way. Most days I feel like I kinda have no idea what I'm doing still until I see a lady with a newborn who looks super uncomfortable still and it all comes rushing back to me. I think, hm maybe I do have a little wisdom in me. Nothing compared to moms of two or three, but I know I've come a long way. I think once you start giving other moms advice about a certain stage or whatever, you've passed the new mom phase.

I realized that I'm not a 'new Mom' anymore. Do you consider someone to be a new parent for a certain amount of time? Is a new Mom only for a first time parent?

I have a friend who has a 6 month old and she asked so many questions and even though I feel like I am winging it with my 19 month old daughter most days I'm starting to feel a bit more seasoned, and am glad I can be a resource for a new Mom.

No big reason for the question just curious. Same question goes to what you consider to be a new Dad or new parents.
