At the moment while my LO is on a napping strike I'm constantly feeding him. We read 2 books this morning while he was calm. At the moment I'm giving him 10 min to CIO while I do house work. It's killing me hearing him cry but he just won't nap and I can't even get a dish done! Our home is a mess because SO refuses to help with housework because I'm "home all day" so I should have plenty of time to get it done. Oh dear goodness if only he knew.

Thanks bees! I feel better :)
It's still so amazing to me the difference just a month or so (or, heck, even a couple of weeks!) makes in their development and interactiveness!

LO is almost 4 months and I still feel our days revolve around eating and naps! When she is awake I try to change activities every 15-20 mins. We spend lots of time on the couch, with her propped up on the boppy. I read and sing and talk to her there. Then she plays on her activity gym while I tidy up a bit. Then she might go in the swing before her next nap. I also try to go out with her once a day. We belong to a couple mom groups and also go to the movies and library once a week.

Oh and I liked reading to her during tummy time. I would also play classical music for her during nap times to drown out the city noise.

It sounds like you have a good routine down. I had a great sleeper but finicky bottle feeder. I supplemented with formula from the start due to supply issues. I tried so many brand of bottles to see if she would eat better or more, she would fall asleep during feeding times even. But it turns out, it was just her, she just needs her sleep.

It sounds like you are doing everything right. But I questioned myself when DS was that age: am I providing him with enough stimulation / the right stimulation? Everyone will tell you it goes by so quickly, and it does! Enjoy your time snuggling and talking - that's exactly what your LO needs.

Sounds right to me. I felt like talking to her a lot was very important then. We went on lots of walks to help her sleep, either in the stroller or carrier, and I spent a LOT of time trying to get her to sleep. She is four months now and can play so much more but that's only in the last few weeks.

@MamaMagpie: once LO got older I used to aim to do some sort of activity or outing every other day, whether it be a music class, grocery shopping, coffee group or catching up with friends. At eleven weeks your LO will definitely love all the snuggles and if the weather is still nice he'd probably enjoy hanging out on a blanket outside too

DD is 4.5 months. I take her for at least one walk a day, as long as the weather permits. We regularly visit the local library, and look at picture books. I give her indepebdent time on her activity mat, but tickle, sing, and otherwise engage with her, as well. We'll run errands, or visit with family, and she's cool with chilling in her bouncer while I do chores, and turn on music. She eats and sleeps a lot, so that also takes up time!

My baby was definitely not asleep! I didn't even know newborn slumber was a thing. I mostly nursed her constantly. We did photoshoots that she really liked. Mostly she nursed and got hugged and held and we would use the ergo for walks to get out and that was the only way she would sleep. By 11 weeks she loved her kick piano and we did tummy time and read books too. Your day sounds good! @autumnlove: wow! Lucky lady! :)

I feel like my baby was asleep for my entire maternity leave....we went on errands, dropped off LO at daycare and I did stuff around the house. I also watched a lot of TV while she was sleeping in another room!

Your day sounds perfect!

That's what I did with LO when she was that little... I mean, at that point, all you can really do is make sure they're alive. We would go on errands once in awhile, but I felt better shopping with her at home with my mom.

Just wondering what you mamas do/did with your LOs when they were tiny?

DS is eleven weeks and we spend a lot of time nursing (supply issues -- he still eats every 1.5-2 hours) and talking to each other, as well as some time under the activity mat and I try to give him at least 15-20 minutes of tummy time a day. Sometimes we go for walks, sometimes there's an errand in there...I just wonder if I'm giving him the right amount of activity and stimulation? We spend a good amount of time just snuggling and talking...
