@Mrs. Twine: Thanks for the tip. I only use unscented Boogie Wipes anyway. I can't stand the scented ones.

@cascademom: I wouldn't use a scented one, probably. We just use the unscented plain saline ones. First I rinse with water, then I wipe (especially if there is any grime embedded in there). Then I put the Motherlove ointment and usually skip the bandaid (depending on the injury). I will re-apply the Motherlove ointment frequently throughout the day. Ellie likes bandaids, so she usually gets one regardless. Lorelei rips them off.

@Mrs. Twine: Oh, good to know. I like the idea of using a Boogie wipe to cleanse the wound.

@mewtill: It absolutely is true of EMAB. We used that, but I have a slight aversion to the smell (don't worry, no :bfp: here) so we started using the Motherlove. I adore the fact that I can just carry one product that can do triple duty as a cream for dry skin on the go (think chapped lips, excema patch, etc.), diaper rash control/prevention, and wound care.
We also always carry boogie wipes and will use those for cleaning along with water from the water bottle we always have with.

Just curious, what do you do about scrapes, cuts, and scratches for LO's under 12 months old? LO cut his leg going against my un-pedicured toe. It's still healing, but wondering what I can do since he's still pretty little. I wasn't sure about Neosporin with him and his age.

@Mrs. Twine: Oooh, the cloth diaper ointment can be used for scrapes? Do you think that's true of the Earth Mama Angel Baby brand?

@chopsuey119: He's only had scratches so far and we don't do much. He did scrape his foot on something sharp when he was 3 months. It bled a lot, but he wasn't chuffed about it, so I just wiped it with soap/water and added neosporin & a band-aid.

Clean it and we use Motherlove diaper rash/thrush ointment on them and a bandaid if the girl in question wants one or it seems prudent. I carry a "kit" in my diaper bag. It's also good to have for when I take Ellie's friends places with us if they get a scrape or something.

Depends on how much attention my son is paying to the boo-boo. If I have a bit of time, I do a quick wipe with a saline solution and then a bit of neosporin.

I carry saline solution for this exact reason! Luckily I haven't had to use it yet but I would just quickly wash it with some SS and then put a bandaid on. Maybe some ointment if I thought it was bad

The solution for pollution is dilution

We wash it out really well with soap and water and then a bit of antibiotic ointment if it's a bit deep.
I'm a big hydrogen peroxide fan, though I know the med literature says it impairs wound healing, my personal experiments on myself have shown I'm less likely to scar when I use H202 but LO heals just fine on her own.
So usually for LO I just make sure to wash it out regularly with soap and water.
