I've been pumping in the car....put the window visor up, put nursing cover on, i sit in the back seat since its tinted. Crank up the ac turn on the radio, and chill for 10 mins. I have a pump with a battery pack, also have one of those outlets that you plug into the cig liter thing. If let down takes too long, I watch a video that I recorded on m phone of LO crying, to stimulate let down.

@regberadaisy: You can get the best (in my opinion) manual pump at Walmart cheap (the Lansinoh). It's like $30. It would be nice to have on hand anyway.

@regberadaisy: If you are covered by FLSA, you can do just that. It is the law. Of course it is always easier not to rock the boat. Thank goodness it worked out for you.

@Foodnerd81: it's not an issue of me not wanting ot pump. It's an issue of no where to pump. And storage was not an issue because it's good at room temp for up to 5hours and I brought a bottle cooler bag with ice pack in my purse.

Its a hospital that's been closed down and we're doing site verification so I can't very well tell everyone to wait 10 minutes for me while I pump.

Thankfully, we finished at 1pm and I'm back at the office now and pumped first thing! Thanks ladies! I was prepared to hand express in a bathroom if we were going all day when there was food break.

@regberadaisy: good luck. This has made me realize that although it is 'tricky' to breastfeed in public, it is even more of an issue to pump in public!

I'm not a mom yet, but from what i read around here, wouldn't it be worth pumping just to keep up your supply and for the engorgement, even if you end up not being able to store it? Like, just enough to get it out, even if it isn't a full session? Or am I way off base there?

I have an advent manual pump and I tend to use it more than my electric one. I feel like its faster :)

Yea....I'm doing site verification so not in the position to ask for a room to pump. I have a cooler bag that came with my pump. But I'll probably bring my bottle cooler because it's smaller.
I don't have a manual pump. I think I have to read up on hand expressing tonight! We might be back in the office by 3:30 so if that's the case I will only miss one session.

agreeing with PP, I would check they should have a room for you to pump in and bring a cooler to store the milk in (or see if they have a fridge you can borrow some space from.)

yep, agree with autumnlove & babyboecksmom - hospital should have nursing areas, esp. in the maternity ward for moms who are discharged before their babies. I know ours had a room for me to pump when they thought DS would spend a few extra days there without me.

I agree w/ AutumnLove - manual pump and a small cooler to store the milk.
If you're going to be at a hospital, they should have a room available to pump in.

This is the cooler I use and it keeps it cold all day (http://www.medelabreastfeedingus.com/products/668/cooler-bag-and-ice-pack)

Can you use a manual pump in a bathroom stall? I've done that before...not ideal but works in a crunch!

What do you do about pumping of you will be away from the office all day?

I just found out I will be on site pretty much all day for the next two days. I don't drive so can't pump in the car. It will be at a hospital so no single private bathrooms to pump in.

Worst part is I have no stash and have had horrible pump session today. Ugh I don't want her to drink all formula 2 days straight. Not to mention engorgement ....

Help!
