We've had good luck with a bonnet. LO tries to take it off occasionally and I'll fold the brim back so she can't see it. Then when she's distracted I unfold it (extend it) again. I think she's OK with the bonnet because it blocks less of her vision than a floppy wide brim hat.

@Anagram: oh I'm going to have to try that! I thought the sunglasses were a list cause.

C will usually leave the hat on if I distract her and it has a chin strap, so I'm not much help.

I use a 50 SPF spray on her head. Sunblock washes out :)

@Zbug: let us now how it goes with you wearing a hat at the same times. I think I just accidentally trained my 11 month old to wear her sunglasses.

She used to take them off immediately and chew on them, but all week I've been immediately putting them back on her and wearing mine at the same time and now she never takes them off! It's so funny that it worked so easily. So maybe the same will happen for you!

LO would not wear a hat last year but thankfully was pretty bald so sunscreen on head was easy.

This year she loves her "eyes" and hat and doesn't go outside without making sure she has both!

@cyan: good idea!! Will try that.

@MamaCate: unfortunately, there is only one time for her age group. Ugh.

@rahlyrah: I'm going to try spray. Thanks!

I put sunscreen in his hair. I use the babyganics spray or just rub in the blue lizard.

We do our swim lessons at the beginning or end of the day so we don't have to stress too much about the sun.

Once she gets bigger, I think you will be able to explain no hat=no pool, but she is too little no. My LO is 2 1/2 and was alarmed this morning when we did not bring her hat to swim lesson!

Don't put one on her and make sure she's wearing enough sunscreen. I've put plenty of sunscreen in LO's hair over the past two years.

My LO only wears a hat when I am wearing one, too (or if her dad is wearing one if when he has her). Maybe you could try wearing a hat at the same time to see if that helps?

My LO (8 mo) simply won't wear a hat. I have tried many different styles, but she pulls them off immediately. If I tie her iplay hat tight, it stays on longer but she pulls on it and cries the entire time. Currently, I just keep her in the shade as much as possible, but I've got to figure out a solution for swim lessons! I tried rubbing sunscreen into her hair, but it was a total disaster. Has anyone tried spray sunscreen on their baby's head? We have a float with a canopy for pool time, but she can't use that during her lessons.
