I've been doing a low(er) carb diet since March and I don't find it hard to cook for my family. I generally make something that's like a sauce or stew or curry that everyone eats over rice or pasta and I eat it over salad or cooked veggies.

An example is pasta. I will make meat sauce or chicken broccoli pasta but I just eat my portion with steamed broccoli or broccoli slaw.

Taco nights every one might be eating chicken soft tacos and I will have a taco salad with a few chips crushed over the top of a spoonful of Spanish rice.

I keep rotisserie chicken meat, salad greens, cheese, and hard boiled eggs on hand so I can throw together lunch or dinner for myself very quickly. I also keep easy veggies - baby carrots, shredded carrots, avocado, Persian cucumbers, and cherry tomatoes around for snacking or salad toppings. In the summer we eat salad for dinner a lot because it's so hot and our toddler has started insisting he wants salad too, which has been a great change!

A super fast dinner for me when I'm solo has been a bowl of broccoli, Pesto alfredo sauce, chopped rotisserie chicken meat all microwaved together for 2 minutes.

For dessert, if I'm craving a sweet, I eat a piece of a low carb bar. Atkins makes a peanut butter bar that's super low carb and tastes like a peanut butter cup. I just eat like 1/3 of one as a treat and keep one in my purse for emergencies.

Another Atkins convert here. Going strong since May 10/17 and seen some very encouraging baby weight losses. Baby still breastfeeds but it's not his primary nutrient source (13 months old) so wasn't concerned about supply issues.

Probably the biggest benefit? Atkins has reframed my relationship with food. I'm more conscious of what I'm eating and what my body needs. Thr gist of it is limiting carbs and sugar, refined foods. Focusing on proteins, dairy and vegetables. Infinite yummy options! Very easy to manage with DH and the kids tastebuds too.

I have one of those small elliptical machines, like $65 or so. I actually really like it! I don't pretend it's an amazing workout. But it's super easy to get it done because I can watch Netflix which keeps me going and is often the mental break I want after all day with kids. So I figure it's at least like going on a brisk walk (I often am stuck at home when dh works late). I also see some benefits to my core because since it's small there's nothing to support your body and your core has to do all the balancing for you. It's not going to the gym, but it's something.

I also like MFP for counting calories, it's just so easy. I don't enter any non-starchy veggies which helps me eat more of them (I would enter any dressing or anything they might be cooked in). They're not high calorie anyway, but I think the mindset is helpful.

I did a couple true Whole30s, and now I eat like that M-F and eat what I want, in moderate portions, on the weekends. I dropped about 30 lbs doing that and lifting weights.

This week I'm doing a clean eating challenge - I've cut out all packaged food, and only eat "real" fruits, veggies, meat, etc. In 4 days I've lost 4 1/2 pounds...just from cutting the junk - I can't wait to take my measurements because I can already tell my stomach has de-bloated a lot as well.

I would stick to CLEAN - avoid preservatives, avoid excess sugar, just stick to real foods. You can spurge here and there but the better you quicker it will come off.

I use MyFitnessPal to count calories. So far I've lost 10lbs in about a month!
A lot of dinners, I'll have my protein on lettuce instead of with bread or pasta. I don't give up anything, I'm just mindful of where my calories are going. If I want a treat - ice cream, wine, chips - I have to give up somewhere else.

When I'm trying to stay on track with diet and exercise, I do the 21 Day Fix (I'm not affiliated with the program at all). I like the container system because I can still eat everything, just in moderation. They also have suggestions for breastfeeding (like an extra serving of fat and/or bumping up to the next calorie bracket).

It promotes eating a ton of veggies, and it's almost hard to eat all of the food ... I can't do deprivation diets, so this works.

Also, even walking or 20 min of moderate activity can do wonders!!

I am the same, bf'ing and want to lose another 10-15 lbs.
Luckily my DH is also trying to lose weight so we're eating more chicken / less red meat and potatoes.

Made this recipe last week and everyone loved it: http://www.skinnytaste.com/blackened-chicken-fiesta-salad/

I use MyFitnessPal to track calories, which helps a LOT just to hold myself accountable. Right now my goal is 1800 calories a day (normally 1200 + 600 for bf'ing). Its easiest to eat less for breakfast/lunch and then I eat a normal supper, just a smaller serving. I don't have any snacks available to me at work other than the fruit I bring. Luckily people don't bring in treats here.

I walk on my lunch break, usually 15-20 minutes, and then at night I'm doing a 30 day legs/guns/abs challenge which is super quick/easy. (I'm half ways through)
http://womensrunningcommunity.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/rsz_130_day_buns_guns_and_abs.jpg
I have an elliptical, but never use it, I can't find the time with 2 LO's.

I rely on the same few things for myself during the week so I don't have to be so strict at dinner and on the weekends.

Breakfast ideas:
silken tofu smoothie: frozen fruit, silken tofu, chia seeds, ground flax
steel cut oatmeal: oats cooked in water, frozen fruit or a banana mashed in, ground flax, 1 tsp maple syrup
mini bagel with 1 tbsp. cream cheese
apple with 2T almond butter

lunch: cut vegetables (bell pepper, cucumber, grape tomatoes, steamed string beans/zucchini/broccoli) with a serving of wholly guacamole (I buy it at Costco in single serve containers) and an entrée of either baked salmon, chicken or grilled steak

I only drink water, sometimes with a squeeze of lemon juice or unsweetened black/green tea. I do limit my consumption of dairy but that's about it. I love fruit, can eat it constantly, but when I eat too much of it, I do put weight back on, so I limit that as well. I typically eat a fruit at every meal, but not more than that.

Honestly, I eat better at work than I do at home. It's because I bring all the food I can eat with me, instead of grazing all day at home. My typical work day:

Breakfast: black coffee, or just a tiny amount of creamer. And a yogurt (siggi's, yoplait greek 100, or chobani simply 100 - these all have less sugar than most) with a sprinkle of chia seeds I keep in my desk drawer.

Lunch: Primarily fruits and veggies that I prepare at work. I never prepare anything at home, unless it's a small container of leftovers. I cut up everything in the kitchen at work. Today for lunch, I'm having a nectarine, a bell pepper, an avocado and a couple grape tomatoes with a handful of leftover chips from Qdoba. The quantity is large so I don't feel hungry all day, but most of it is not empty calories and I feel good when I eat lots of veggies.

Snack if I'm starving in the afternoon: handful of almonds - my fav are the blue diamond wasabi soy ones.

Dinner - whatever I want. Not that I count them, but I usually like to save most of my calories for dinner.

If I was trying to lose weight, I'd prob portion out my dinner a little more. But I'm good with just maintaining at this point. I probably take a walk over my lunch 2x a week, and go to the gym 1-2x on the weekend (they have daycare) - I do mostly weight training then.

@bubblegum: I just eat smaller portions - like when the kids eat tortellini I have about 1/2 cup and then a huge salad - while the kids eat like 2 cups! haha

Also skip the processed snacks/foods

Have you looked into Weight Watchers?

The new My Fitness Pal also tracks things like the amount of protein your eating in addition to just calories.

I've been doing Atkins since October. Really limiting carbs, and especially sugar, has made a HUGE impact on my weight and my health. While I still have some weight I could lose, I've been pretty happy with where I am and mostly maintaining my weight by continuing to limit carbs and especially sugar. Eating meats and veggies and low-carb fruits makes me look and feel great!

My family is all vegetarian, and we have roast veggies with quinoa a few times a week. DH and I take premade salads to work for lunch, and usually have an easy breakfast of cottage cheese and hardboiled eggs. We really just try to fit in veggies wherever we can, but we also eat tacos a couple times a week and pizza periodically.

I have friends who have done the keto diet and lost a ton of weight in a short period of time but don't recommend that for breastfeeding (or long term).

For me, just cutting back on processed food has made a difference in how I feel....

Also, I can't recommend Fitness Blender workouts enough. They can all be done from home and you can customize length of time/what you want to work on. For free! They also have paid programs if you want something structured for weight loss, etc. I'm currently doing their FB Burn and love it. I would say unless you just LOVE the elliptical, it's not great for fat loss. HIIT/strength are where it's at!

I just had DD two months ago and lost all the weight I gained with her and then some. However, I want to lose about 15 more pounds to feel great. I am breast feeding and typically am an alright eater but I just returned to work and the office environment isn't the best for me.

Here's the thing, I don't want to cut everything out and want to have things in moderation of course. I'm a meat girl and adore ice cream. But totally love fish, veggies, and all that really healthy stuff too.

DH and DS, not so much. So help me out. What are some amazing recipes that are quick and easy that won't make me hate having to cook two separate meals. Totally open to raw, vegan, and vegetarian recipes of course.

ALSO: what do you do to maintain a healthier diet?!

I do "work-out" but it's really just long walks where I can fit them. Typically on the weekends. I might invest in a small elliptical.

HELP!
