I'll take off since I have more vacation. We also have my MIL close by if we need her.

It doesn't happen very often so one of us takes off. It was really important in choosing a daycare that they did not close for weeks at a time.

I imagine that either Hubs or I will adjust our work hours. We work for the same small company, so it would be easy enough to coordinate. We're going to need to find a baby sitter at some point to cover those sorts of days. If it were absolutely necessary, my FIL would probably babysit, but he lives an hour away.

If neither of our parents could watch her I'd have to take a vacation day.

My parents just moved to town, so it's easy for my mom to watch him. In the past, if daycare was going to be closed for several days, my mom would usually fly up to watch LO. If it's a single day, DH would normally take the day off since he has more flexibility than I do, or we'd split the day and each take a half day of vacation.

We haven't had to deal with this yet (baby is due in March), but Hubs is able to work from home (and often does during snow storms), so he'll most likely be staying home with the kids when daycare isn't open. He always gets more vacation than I do, so he can afford to take days off and still have plenty of vacation left-over.

I'll probably WFH those days. No idea how I'll actually get work done with her around, but we don't have to worry about this until the week after Christmas, and my job is pretty slow that week anyway.

When daycare is closed either DH or I will take the day off. The next big stretch is Christmas Eve to New Year's.

I drop M at my inlaws for a playdate with my MIL. She LOVES those days! She took him for a week at the end of the summer. If daycare is closed or my daycare provider needs to go to a parent teacher conference, etc. I just keep M home with me and either work a half-day or take the day off. When she is closed for a month or two in the summer I go home to my parents house and either hire a nanny like I did last summer or will send him to a local daycare this next summer.

Our daycare is closed the day after Thanksgiving. We don't want to take the day off so we're going to ask my parents or his to come to town for Thanksgiving - that way we get baby sitters for the day after. ;-)

I should mention, we don't have family nearby. My parents are 2.5 hours away but can come into town easily if we need them. His parents live 12 hours away. Not so easy.
