I try about 2-3 things and then give up. Usually this means I will give her bites while she plays that sometimes works.

We have backup food. My son (2.5) will always eat soup + rice. So we have some frozen soup handy at all times. And we always have rice so we usually give him that when he won't eat whatever we're offering him at that time. When he was younger, we always had different types of purees in the freezer in case he didn't like what was offered.

Do you have a back-up meal ready in case she/he doesn't want what you give her/him?

I sometimes have 5 different things on hand. This morning was the worst...she wouldn't eat prunes+yogurt (2nd day in a row she's refused it, even though she happily ate it for a few days last week), so i gave her thinly peeled pears and mangoes. I tried to give her some of my oatmeal, but only took 2 bites before giving me the "no way" grunt.

What do you do?
